Ohh god, i'm not very good at this! It says in the handbook you need at least an annual height certificate! I want do do Pretty Polly RIHS qualifiers next year, do i not need to get him measured at all?

If you are meaning your SHP competing in Pretty Polly RIHS classes, yes you will need a height certificate. If you look at page 9 of the current 2010 BSPS rule book it will tell you what is required.

Ok lets try it this way
Plaited ponies need a height cert to be registered with the bsps.....this is because they enter classes with height restrictions e.g 122cms shp etc etc
Hairy ponies can be registered with the bsps without a height cert......as they are resticted to the height that their breed society sets for them.
But.... if a hairy qualifies for rihs or hoys it must have a height cert to compete at that show.
Hope that makes sense.
best thing to do is read the rule book cover to cover .... boring but necessary!!!!!!

Yes. If you are registering your plaited pony for the first time with BSPS then it must have an annual height certificate whatever age it is. This will be sufficient for 2011 provided it is done after January 1st 2011. After 2011 if the pony is 7 or older it will then need a full height certificate.

Not current price I am afraid as it is long time since I have had a pony measured but you will find all the information (including which vet practices can measure) on the JMB website - just google it

If i join bsps this year to do winter shows before january, do I then have to re-join after january?

Yes you do (although there is a reduced rate membership for this year) But of course you can enter any BSPS show/class without being registered (unless RIHS, HOYS or Blue Ribabnd qualifier) & if you & animal have never been members before you get 7 working days to register yourself & animal if you are in a qualifying position & wish to take up the qualification.

I have been registered before, but 2 years ago, but horse never has, so does that still apply? or would i have to join to do qualifiers?

you don't have to join to do qualifiers unless they are HOYS/RIHS/Blue Riband as you have to be a member to enter those. you would have to be a member to qualify in a normal class(i.e open, novice, restricted etc.) but you don't have to join to enter those.

RIHS and HOYS quals start after Jan anyway, so there isn't really any need to become a member for the next couple of months

I know, but if we wanted to try and qualify for winter champs wed still have to join for the rest of the year and get a height cert! bit of a palava!
