if your dog is extremely scared i would visit your vets for some sedatives.
DAP can help but its too late now as the diffusers need a good 2 weeks plugged in first. DAP collar is more immediate if you wanted to use DAP.
also zylkene and kalmaid
long term you might want to think about desensitisation but you wont be able to start until after new year when all the fireworks stop.
i would ring your vets, they can give you plenty advice on all of the above.
hope this helps!

If we have to go out around bonfire night and leave millie on her own, we always shut the curtains and leave the radio on quite loud (no joined on neighbours so not a problem!), she isn't scared but just tends to bark at fireworks, and if it's silent and she hears a bang it sets her off barking, whereas if there is background noise she doesn't seem to notice them as much.

whatever you do, DO NOT cuddle her.... sounds terrible but cuddling her will encourage the fearful behaviour.. Tara used to be like this and yes i cuddled her until my friend popped round saw me doing it and told me to stop it.... when i did, Tara stopped shaking and went to her bed.. she didnt like it but she wasnt getting so upset either... couple days later we went out a walk and heard more FW being let off... i just encouraged her to keep playing wiht her ball, and now she doesnt mind them.

sands01 is right. Before we lost our Border Collie, we used to have this problem every time before/on/shortly after Bonfire Night! We used to cuddle her etc, but after talking to the vet to see if there was anything we could do to help, they told us this was totally the wrong thing to do as it was just re-inforcing the fact that there was something to be scared of!
