I went into my barn this morning. We had fireworks going off long into the night last night..... to find my brood mare in her own stable, her foal in my grey mares stable and Lilly (my grey mare), stood outside in the paddock at the back They have stables that they can wander in and out of, but obviously had got scared and broke the fencing, so all got muddled up in together Luckily they all get on very well, so there was no injuries, but bloomin fireworks need to be banned IMHO I cant decide what to do on the 5th, as they are used to being able to go in and out, so if you lock them up, will they get more stressed? Cant give calmers to broodmare, cos she is still feeding the foal, so what am I supposed to do I really wish they would ban them

Shut them in.MIne are used to being able to put themselves in and out but they are fine being locked in when they have to.

fireworks are a pain, on the 5th of nov im taking my 14.2 mare mare outside to watch the fireworks. she loves them, we used to keep the horses at a yard near where they did a big firework display and she had a stable that could see all of them. she just stood there staring into the sky whilst other other horses were going mad in their stables lol x

I would shut them in.
Mine don't care about fireworks and Sage cat is brave with Onion being deaf anyway, but I hate them with a passion. Cannot see the attraction and they terrify so many animals.

Its only Violet - my broodmare that gets very stressed, so I was worried she would knock the foal about if shut in the stable?

We have always left our out and monitored them, except at new year when neighbours warned us they were having fireworks we sedated them and kept them in. They are not scared they watch them

Can I join the 'I hate fireworks' brigade?
My dog is petrofied, 2 of the cats are too and my daughter is as well. She is 9 but has APD (auditory processing disorder) and anything sudden and/or loud makes her really scared, hurts her head etc...and fireworks are, along with swimming pools, the thing that are the worst for her.
If they have to do fireworks, then please just 1 night and organised display only.
I have no idea how Gwyn will be but he will be going in tonight as well. I wish I could be with him and at home at the same time to comfort everyone and saying it will all be ok.

I love to watch them but not when they are near any kind of animals. A lady who lives 3feilds away from us, who has horses, last year decided to make a huge fireworks display (money no object!!) the silly moo decided to put the display at the bottom of her fields which are next to ours, without telling us, she had put all her horses in, never informed us what she was doing, and it wasn't until the second firework that i realised that our horses were a couple of feet away from the display Needless to say that the police were involved but for someone who has horses her self, this was just pure ignorance!!!!

I officially now HATE fireworks all my horses dont seem to mind them but they are used to them and do tend to just watch them , or ignore them..but our poor chihuahua is petrified she has been shaking since about 7pm..when all the local firework displays started..even though some were a few miles away....they stopped thank God and then .... next door decided to hold a mammouth display in their teeny back garden...very very very loud banger ones and he still has a mahoosive box of hooge rockets left.( I can see his whole garden from my window)...but seems to have gone in and maybe left them for later who knows... But the sleeping baby woke up crying and he never cries, the dog is shaking and howling and my eldest son is scared they will set the house on fire as some are seeming to fly through the air everywhere and one even set the car alarm off Its all gone quiet just now..but I can see theres loads left in that box and loads stuck in his lawn ready to light ....grrrrrrr He best not start setting more off later on, and rewake us all late ... fireworks ...pointless noisy absolute waste of space ..Im not usually one for a rant but this year they are really peeing me off hope everyones horses and pets are all ok suppose one good thing is this year we seem to only have had fireworks tonight, whereas in previous years they seemed to start on halloween and carry on for ages after the 5th ,night after night

I have given our dog and cats rescue remedy and also our daughter. The ducks are unsettled in their house but I don't dare open it incase they start panicking round the garden and it will make things worse.

Really bad by me, luckily the horses and dogs are at work where its relatively quiet, though have just started bringing my filly in and she has barely been stabled in her 18 months of life, hoping she hasn't done anything stupid to herself, she is used to shoots so expect she will be fine.

This is the one time of year that I'm very grateful that my rabbit is deaf!! We had a massive display opposite our house last night, but she didn't even seem to notice anything!!

Last year one of our rabbits went into shock mode and had to stay in the vets for a week after some very loud fireworks I hate them. Ponies have never really been that bothered by them though, there was a display last year by the yard and we were riding doing no stirrup work! My mare (well old one) didn't even flinch. Saying that I hope our new filly was okay last night, no idea how she'd react to them...

Got to leave mine out until after the explosions. Our little 12.2hh SP gets really scared if she is in. Tried ear plug with the radio on full blast and even staying with her. She takes a few days to recover. However, if she is out, she is fine! She's out there now (with others off course)! Why are the General Public allowed to buy explosives? Why is such animal cruelty still allowed to happen? My Staffy has been stuck to me like glue for the last few nights. My mother's little dog is OK this year because he can no longer hear.

My filly survived the night without injury Maybe shes not as deranged as I thought. But I think we are in for more, there seems to be an awful lot of firework parties advertised for tonight.

I spent three/four hours last night trying to comfort my infoal mare. She's on a calmer and extra haylage balance to help with the hopeless diarrhoea..Seemed OK this morning but mackrelled with sweat. Strangely it is the sight rather than the noise- she HAS to watch every single one or the world will cave in. I spent a good couple of hours walking her round the menage with "Mummy", calmed her bit but despite me loving fireworks I would have given anything for them to go away. Gwynsmum- hopefully it will all pass soon, or rain some more xx
