I think this poll is too simplistic, especially when related to Highlands.
Is the mare in foal?
Is the pony at the last show of the season and going to be turned out for a Winter rest on its native hill?
Is it just being brought into work?
Too many questions without answers. Rolling obese one thing, fat can have a reason, and is a different matter entirely.

I don't think this is aimed at highlands alone, i think its just ponies and horses in general. And I would say yes

SOrry, this isn't just for highlands, its your own personal opinion on if you have noticed a rise in fat/obese horses/ponies in the show ring at all.

Yes definately, I think its awful when you see horse/ponies in the ring that cant move properly because they are so fat, and the other thing that frustrates me is when people want praise for putting their horses on a diet and that they are losing weight, why let them get obese in the first place!! Its not clever and very dangerous for the horses, I love to watch a very fit, well muscled horse or pony in the ring

and another yes from me we are concerned, as a nation, about obese people due to the risks to their health so why are we not more concerned about obese horses? i was looking at some pics of past royal welsh (cob) winners and blimey were some of them fat! i agree with Desktop, there's a big difference between fit and well muscled [lovely to see] and downright gargantuan but do think the message is getting thru a bit to some judges - have seem one line up where all the fatties were down the non-winning end (but tend to usually see the opposite)

Last week I competed at a show and, although my horse is NOT overweight at all (he is slightly underweight actually), te judge mistaked my horse for being fat because he is very deep in the girth. A judge should be able to see the difference between deep and fat... I think alot of horses get labelled 'fat' because of deep girths when they really arent.

Just to add a bit onto the end...: I am not saying that some horses ARENT fat, becuase some of them are appauling to be in the show ring, especially for working hunters, I think it is slightly unfair. A horse is not completely fit if they are fat, and I think it is a bit harsh to expect them to jump around a course carrying too much weight.
