we are selling our house at the moment and it has been so frustrating, people come and say lots of positive things but nothing
we have had a number of people come and say they really like it and won't mess us around bla bla bla, its perfect we want it but then nothing else!!! why the hell do people do this, why say you will buy it if you aren't going to its not fair on the person selling the place
i am so fed up i wish someone would just buy the dam place or else don't get our hopes up

Most people don't want to upset you.
Do you have estate agents because you should take them to task. It is their job to give you the feed back good or bad.

If selling houses is worse than selling horses then God help you! I have never known so many idiots as I have come across this year selling ponies, why on earth people can't just tell the truth without speaking in riddles(or basically bull sh1tting!) I don't know. To tell the truth would kill some people you have my deepest sympathy

Don't think Estate Agents are necessarily to blame. My daughter had an offer a hundred thousand lower than asking price and agents were very embarrased to have to come back to her with this price, but said it was really what their clients were looking for and fealt sure they would come back with better price. They did, another £20,000. When you are selling a property for £350.000 which agents have valued it at, and then get an offer for £250.000 upped to £280,000 you begin to think why are these people looking at this house, especially as they did two viewings. Everyone is negotiable but......

I sympathise with you , we were selling a property to settle my parents will a few months ago and it was gut wrenching, we actually sold it twice before we saw a sale, however you only need one person in the right circumstances to make the sale, alot of people are viewing even if their house is on the market, without it being under offer or sold, I think this is where your agent should be saying you arent in a position to proceed , so why view? - Difficult times, we ended up accepting 10k less than the asking price , but it still took 8mths to sell

I did work in an estate agents for a time and believe you me, they do have an awful lot to answer for. Don't think they work for you, they work for themselves and their commission at the end of the month.

well we've been handling the viewings ourselves rather than have the estate agents showing people round, i'd rather people not say anything at all than get our hopes up

we've had 10 people come to look at ours, had one offer but the estate agent went back to them, asked for more but they dropped out. has only been on the market for 2 months, if we can sell it then we can get our own yard, lorry etc.

Feel for you Quest.
We sold our last house afew years ago & had a family that viewed 3 times, brought their kids, parents & half their family round to view. Advised us they were in the process of sorting out a mortgage, wanted the house...blah, blah, blah & then we never heard from them again!
IMO people who say 'I'm definately going to.....usually never do'

don't loose all hope- we have sold ours twice only to have chain collapse. Then 2 weeks ago had someone make an offer on the monday just to change their minds on wednesday Then last week had yet another offer (£35,000 less than the asking price) which we have accepted as to be honest just want it sold (we are also renting 200 miles away) i am sure you will sell and i know its frustrating so will keep my fingers crossed for you xx
