As requested here are some pics taken this morning of the story which is 'The Weaning of Velvet' TBH most of the issues so far have focussed between the two mares Violet and Toffee. After a few moments yesterday the two mares must have struck up an overnight peace deal as this morning they went out and started to do a bit of this: and even allowed the foals further than a tails distance away from them: Gracie with Violet and Velvet in front of her Velvet with Violet in the bcakground All four of them TOGETHER in the furthest corner of the field Toffee and Gracie comparing notes on the visitors Violet trying to say Dorset grass isnt of the quality a diva is used to Velvet unaware that behind her a three foot strip of grass is available.... Meanwhile in the field next door, life goes on as usual. I hope this reassures LP and you all that these very special visitors are happy and contented. to be contnued over the next few weeks.... HTP

They are VERY happy and lovely grass, it is like being on holiday. So what is the next step then? Next step is to leave them to get on for 4 days and try to put Cookie in by Friday. If all goes to plan the 'BIG SEPERATION' will take place on Sunday for Velvet followed by Gracie middle of next week. Unless of course the foals have had enough of their diva mums and decided to tunnel or jump out. BTW - I think Violet treats every day as if it her personal holiday.

She is really looking forward to next year as Im hoping it will be her time. She is currently due to be showing 4. 2 of our and 2 for other people. Thankfully there shouldnt be any class clashes at the moment but (she) is always on the look out for more.

Happy happy happy Toffee and Gracie went out first (just to rub it in to a certain up her own **** mare) and called them as they saw V and V coming down track. Its lovely today - crunching across the frosty fields.

Great news. R the foals friends yet?

Difficult to say if they are 'friends' yet as much depends on what their mothers will allow them to do. It will be much easier when mums arent around bossing the babies or each other.

I had a word with Violet tonight as I think she has finally (reluctantly) accepted me as a foster mother. I have told her to make the most of her time with velvet tomorow and to be a good girl for LP when she gets home. She nodded at me. Velvet has developed a very fluffy coat which describes her name beautifully! She's looking forward to seeing you tomorrow too LP xx

Velvet is home!!!!
I am so happy, its quite pathetic really!
She called a few times in the lorry on the way home and then tucked into her net of horsage!
Unloaded her in the dark, she strolled back into her barn, had a quick squeal at Mini and Candy - telling them that HRH was back and carried on eating her hay in her stable.
She is having the odd glance about, wondering where the "princess" is, but there is certainly no stressing going on.
Velvet looked fantastic. She has grown so much in 10 days, she has gone up a rug size!
My son Sam got a bit upset, leaving Velvet there, but we assured him she would come home at some point.
Huge heartfelt thanks to HTP, for looking after them so well and planning such a stress free weaning xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Oh poor Sam. Please bring him back as soon as you want to LP. Velvet screamed no more than 5 times and was last seen standing next to the grill in between her and Toffee and Gracie. All I have to do is give it a few days and then split Toff and Gracie. I will report back on the Velevt baby tomorrow.
