So down i went to the field tonight, to feed and water..
and what do i find...fencing down...ok i thought....fair enough...i'm redoing it tomorrow anyway so they saved me a job....
then i see my two coloureds...in the feed room...uh oh...can't be that bad...WRONG
1 whole weeks worth of feed...GONE!...everything in the feed room....flatterned!
my feedroom is a hard core marque type thing...they have ripped the front to get in...I'm so peeed!
I was planning on going down tomorrow, giving them all a good groom, re-fence, and tidy the place up a bit as riding is a no go...but no....i shall be getting feed first thing....
they really do test my patience!

I imagine now they know how easy it is to get into it, you may have a problem. Can you get something more secure to keep your feed in?

well after a sleepless night worrying, i go bak down at 6...and yes...in again....so its all been moved to my caravan and i've turned said tack room into a field shelter for them...i'll be back down this afternoon to put the finishing touches to it....i was so angry this morning i text the owner saying maybe it wasn't working out.....but i'll give it another week....i came home in tears because i was so upset at the thought of him going.....
but i've calmed down...should of taken other halfs advice in the first place and put in the caravan!

Oh bless you. Give it a few days with the feed out of sight and i am sure you will be in a better position to make such a drastic decision. Chin up. xxx

unfortunately horses are quite intelligent and once theyve managed to break in, they will continue to, a bit like my youngster who preferred the neighbours ponies she kept hopping over the fence till I moved her to solitary!! (not really!) just a field a bit more secluded! x

Oh poor you, its so annoying when they do things like this Our old pony who is now out on loan escaped a few times, on our yard lots of people leave feeds out for morning and a lady who works for the yard puts them in first thing, well our tiny 11.2 pony went round the yard demolising all these feeds, as well as knocking over several feed bins and trying the contents, chewed up and slobbered all over a sack of carrots and a crate of apples- very lucky they didn;t contain sugar beet or ready mash or other soak first type feeds, obviously what went in had to come out and he cr@pped all over the place on his nightly rampage. I had a lot of cleaning up and apologising to do The YM found him stood outside our other ponies stable on the other side of the yard fast asleep at 6am the next morning. He looked a bit queasy all day and slept for hours, but once he knew what was waiting on the other side of the stable door, he tried it again a few times more

I have one D family who always seem to learn how to open top bolts on stable doors, forget to do the bottom kick bolt and they will soon be yomping round the yard. But at least I keep all my hard feed in big bins they can't access so it's only the hay they can pig out on.

well back again last night, they have a nice shiney field shelter and will throw a load of straw in this week so they have somewhere squishy to lay...
feed in the caravan...to which i hope they don't get in...come summer i'll sort it properly so its not such a tip in there,
my OH bless him has just ordered me a new fencing unit (said horses decided to kick it on escape route and its not in bits) with loads of posts and tape...what a guy!
horses seems happy and content...but now rather than getting more rugs on this weekend to monitor there temp...they will have to get thrown on tonight and hope they are ok....silly billies..
Escapee came up and gave me a big kiss this morning....thats NOT going to work.....ok....maybe it will....a bit....
