Have just got in from trying to weight down the corrugated roof over the feedroom - I am 5ft 3" and have a bad shoulder - typically chap who helps around the place was here till 12, husband away in Suffolk, so it was muggins on top of the bonnet of my car, trying to lift breeze blocks over my head to throw on top of roof sheet!! Why are men never around when you need them? Have also, in addition to aforementioned brick and several bricks managed (with cleaners help) to push up pair of heavy aluminmum ladders ... the puppies are in the stable which is back to back with all this and the sheeting we'd put up across the door to keep weather out is flapping away madly. I also managed to find a couple of long nails to bash in at one end.
This is happening live Malvern - havent turned ponies out as field is like a lake - how are you all fairing out there? According to the met the gusts are up to 60 mph....going to feed ponies in field in a bit I hope they are going to be OK!

Moved the colts accross a field this am, as their normal one was getting so muddy, & checked all the other turn out ponies whilst trying to stay on my feet. Kara my German Sptitz, insisted on coming with me, but after being bowled over 3 times gave up & made me carry her!!
Then went to lunch time NCPA meeting & when came back, (2 hrs later) the one I had moved them out of was under water!!!!
Only good thing is the wind isn't cold!!! just b£$%^y strong.
Decided I'm not riding with the children tonight!!
Tanina Forgot to say we are between Derby & Burton on trent & children now not riding either!!!

Got called into work today to take two hgv's to various places, one up the rather breezy M2 to Rochester then to Essex, took two and half hours to do a 45 minute trip because the Dartford bridge was shut and one of the two northbound tunnels had to take the traffic. Then Sevenoaks was nearly closed due to trees in the roads. Another huge detour to collect the next monster truck, traffic awful through Maidstone - operation stack in force and motorway shut. Could'nt get home by usual route and got taken on a back route by a collegue down flooded and blocked single track roads with some nutter in a BMW trying to keep up with two 4x4's cos he had'nt a clue where he was going. (we eventually lost him). When I eventually got home I found the stallion fencing leaning but still standing, the house in one piece and the stable roofes still on. And one very cheesed off yearling standing by her bucket tyre waiting for a late supper. Luckily it seems to have calmed down a bit.

O wasnt it horrid, a horrid day in all yesterday
Part of stable roof blown off with cob in it, but she didnt seem over bothered. Good job not one of the others.
All electric fencing a chaos....
Our side fence totally smashed and blown off.
Just awful and that Jade Goody is a embarrasment to Britain, but what can you expect with a mother like that..yuk. I dont think she is racist but she is a horrid nasty bully who's career I think has come to a end. I hope I never see her on telly, or in the papers again, ....can I say that on here

Overbent - I am so sorry for laughing, it just seems to always happen to you - not the normal carrier bag flying over the stable door in the wind - a dustbin lid - really sorry but you always make me chuckle I wish I could have been a fly on the wall

and what's worse is that she apparently, through being stupid ("gormless" springs to mind) ill educated and a bit of a slapper has amassed some £4 million in the process.
Try explaining the necessity of school work/ decent behaviour/ pride in achievement to today's children when they see the biggest rewards seem to go to footballer's girlfriends/very *friendly* persons/pop stars with no talent other than that of being able to snort/inject illegal substances....its a real tragedy that BB represents a far greater proportion of the UK population than you dare think.
Oh dear. Off soapbox now....

How awful! Are the ponies ok? Were they in at the time? What a horrific thing to happen!
Few trees down around here but ponies in field seem to be ok though the pictures in the Daily Mail from around the country make you realise most of us got away lightly...

Thanks for good wishes - it is a good excuse for a hot toddy! I knew I should have watched Big Brother - I want to know how to make 4 million by being gormless. I seem to just make 4p by trying hard!! We now have electricity back on so might make an effort to watch it.
