HOYS qualifiers now on their web site, but still no improvement if you have a m&m and live in Scotland, you have one chance to drive all the way to Kelso a mere 15 miles from the Border!

wait a minute was not the Connie class won by Sam Smith on Milford Adventeur (WENT ON TO BE PLACED AGAIN AT HOYS), they come from Scotland and i also think the Highland class was won by a Scottish Pony,Scotland has very very good M&M s so what does it matter if the show is near the border

i think the holidays issue is a problem for us all... but for us contractors, we dont get holidays anyway so i have to be careful how many days i take off.

I did the journey last year and was pleasantly surprised, it wasn't as far as I was anticipating and the roads were good, but for people from Aberdeen and further north it is a hell of a long way. I will be going to the Scottish Horse Show again this year and Border Union (depending on judges, does anyone know who they are yet?) There are lots of good ponies in Scotland but travelling long distances is what stops alot of them doing the Hoys qualifiers. On another note, every Olympia qualifier in Scotland in 2006 was won by a pony from England. Let's hope 2007 will be a better year for Scotland!

Kelso is a bit of a b***er to get to as the roads are very twisty.Especially by lorry.Ive had dogs throwing up on that road.

I didn't find the roads too bad at all, but then again I like roller coasters and fun fair rides! The ponies were happy and not bothered when we arrived either. It is a shame though that the Hoys qualifiers can't be held in a more central location in Scotland, I'm sure they would get alot of Scottish entries then.

Just to point out - Kelso is A LOT further than 15 miles from the Scotland/England border! But agree its a shame about the location of the two shows and also that we only have two in total in Scotland!! I myself am not travelling for qualifiers this year - I am just going to enjoy my ponies and work on some young ones for next year!

Kelso is just over the border into Scotland and not very far from England ;D possibly even less than 15 miles

Try having a riding horse, hack or cob in Scotland We only have 4 classes for RH's, and 3 for cobs and hacks under rules (we have more classes, but not with panel judges ) And we still have to pay the 90 odd squid to compete in them
