Pummeling snow down here in sheffield but not settling due to the wet soggy slushy yucci ground. Oh I promise I will not moan when its hot and sunny and i'me cooking on a show day. I was just acclimatising to riding in the wind and rain, but snow and cold, please go away, I promise to be good if you do

Snowing here in the Midlands (Mon lunchtime) and wind blowing it almost horizontally. Snuggy Hoods and high necked rugs on tonight I think. I am sure the ponies won't mind if I borrow their clothes!! Well, I feel the cold.

I for one would far rather have it cold and snowy than dreary and rainy! Also, maybe the fields would freeze to stop them being such god-awful mud pits....

Hope you are feeling better today fetherston, I have only just taken coat off in office as boss (a man) went around friday night and turned all the radiators off, as to much trouble to set the timer he is in his office hiding as we speak because he has come to realise what a silly thing he did, and he is sulking as had to make all his own cups of tea this morning and fetch his own lunch). We may forgive him by friday although if we are all ill because of sub zero office temperatures this morning he will only have himself to blaim when all his staff are ill together and he has to run the company all on his little lonesome.

No snow here Fetherstone but iced concerete by stables which was very hard on the head when I went out to feed puppies/ponies I can tell you!
Worst of all have run out of hay and rang Hay Man who says he hasnt got any so may have to go onto Haylage but can only find big bales and I only have two ponies at home and2 in field...Haylage man says it will keep for 2 weeks if properly covered up - is this true?

Hi Julie
I have large bale haylage for mine and it last me between 2 and three weeks each bale. I make sure that I cover it with a tarpolin and tie it so that it doesnt get dislodged. I find the worst time is when its very mild it can get a bit hot under the cover. Ask your hay man for the driest haylage he has cos it keeps far better. I have not had any problems with mine lasting that amount of time.
