Hi All I have just purchased a Native Pony saddle for my table top backed |Dartmoor, as every other saddle we have tried just slips up his neck when ridden. This one fits OK - (haven't ridden in it yet) but has 4 tgirth straps - I believe one is called a pint strap. Can someone give me any tips as to whch are the best straps to use (of the 4) to secure the saddle, or does it not really matter? Thanks

if it slides up your ponies neck use the first two one of which is your pointing stap! hope that helps!

Depends on how it sits. My connie used to have it on 1 and 4. With more ridden work and fittening upo we eventually have her on 2 and 3 now. Could you show a piccy with it on pony and have someone holding the flap up. I reckon o could tell you then which would be best. Sometimes if using the point strap and number 2 you get lift in the back of the saddle and too much pressure over the withers. Every pony is different and there is no set rule. Hope this helps.

As others have said - first strap is point strap and kind of pins the saddle down at the front to stop it sliding. 4th strap is a balance strap and helps prevent saddle moving from side to side. 2nd and 3rd straps are just standard girth straps. You need to think about the types of problems you usually have with saddles and girth up appropriately.
