our 4th year too, love equifest on the thursday evening it says pre judging of fr concours and m&m pairs follow each other, my daughter loves both of these classes, is there any chance there could be a little more time inbetween to change out of concours outfit to be ready for the pairs class? xx ETA also couldn't see a beginners whp class, have i just missed it when looking or are you not putting it in the schedule this year? xx

Faye - we did the beginners whp last year, not what I'd describe as beginners, very scarey fillers and quite technical, our pony got round and was placed but didnt want to jump the next time we competed Hopefully they may open up the clear round more ofter this year as that may help as its the same jumps?

do you have the affiliated show jumping schedule ready yet?

Thank you for all of your comments so far. The Show Jumping schedule / timetable is being worked on at the moment - and we should have this ready for March. We will try to get the timetable for the Show Jumping on the website soon. As far as possible, I have tried to put the "novice" WHP classes into the second WHP Ring - which will have a less technical course and be more suitable for the novice ponies and riders. I am waiting for confirmation on the classes that we are going to run on Sunday in the second ring - but I will try to get a beginners WHP class in here. On Sunday we will have several different Societies bringing their shows to Equifest - and so we will only be running the Pure Bred M&M In Hand classes, "training" classes and affiliated and unaffiliated Show Jumping ourselves.

Looks like another great show.
Just out of curiosty will there be more info on the nps home produced classes in due course i.e do you have to qualify or are they open, membership requirements - if any etc. They look like a great set of classes.

The NPS Home Produced classes for this year will be "open" classes (i.e. you do not have to qualify for them). We will use the NPS Home Produced wording though and they will go forward to the NPS Home Produced Championships in the Evening Performance. At this moment we are still finalising wording etc with the NPS - but the classes will run alongside the NPS Home Produced classes. We are hoping to make them championship classes for 2012 that you will qualify for - mainly through NPS Area Shows - but for this year they are a bit of a "trial run".

PLEASE can we have some type of a Beginners WHP or Cradle stakes around the 50 - 55 cm mark. Our pony isn't eligible for novice classes but child not ready for up to height Opens. Something for the novicier children rather than novice ponies would be fab. The M&M section was very well supported last year. Thank you.

It looks a great shedule but didnt you have most of the lead rein/first riddens in one ring [M&M and Plaited ] last year ? We have one of each and if makes life much easier if they are in the same ring as then there is no worrys of clashing . My daughter is just of the lead and the show pony and M&M tiny tots first ridden look like they will clash . Nevermind there is plenty of classes for her to do i will just have to have a good look and plan what classes she can do that wont clash Sorry if i am being thick what is the difference between home produced and amateur classes I did wonder if there will be the same moaning about the bright stars classes that bsps are doing

ilovenatives ... if you are competing more than one pony at such a large show holding so many classes it is inevitable that that will be some dashing about trying to avoid some classes clashing we took two ponies/one rider the first year Equifest was held and it was hard work we took one pony/rider in 2009 & 2010 and it was a doddle! we will be taking two ponies/one rider again in 2011 (gluttons fo punishment!) but what i would like to say is that there are always people willing to offer their help in holding your pony whilst you attend to the other pony/child combination .. people have been vey kind to us @ Equifest and in 2008 we even had someone we had only just met kindly ride for us when classes clashed and they did a good job and were placed too

Oh i know you always get some clashing its just when its all in the same ring its alot easier . We have to take 2 as one dosnt really like to go to shows on her own , i have my mum who comes with us as well so should be ok for holding ponies /getting ready etc . Its the only champs we are doing this year so thought we may as well go for it . I have to agree about everyone being friendly and willing to help at Equifest we really enjoyed it and found it a great atmosphere last year [our first at equifest ] Theres so much choice of classes to do its hard to choose which ones to enter , id like to do some inhand as well but its a case of fitting it all in

ilovemyponies we have to make a choice of who to take as well but can only take 2 , know we are taking our show pony but got to choose which Native to take I think we will have to wait till nearer the time to see how ponies are going as they are novices

] ....... Theres so much choice of classes to do its hard to choose which ones to enter , id like to do some inhand as well but its a case of fitting it all in yes, that's always difficult .. we always narrow it down by if the judge/s suit us and if we havent experienced a judge b4, we give em a try there is such a great choice of classes, our poor ponies would be on their knees if they did em all (and so would i !) but another gr8 thinkg with Equifest is that there are many classes you can enter when you're there so why not enter just a few in advance and then the rest when you see how things are panning out good luck when you go and think we horsegossipers are gonna hve to meet up @ Equifest 2011 for a social

Thank you for all of the comments! Just to confirm - the ONLY classes that you have to qualify for are the ones that are prefixed by Equifest - these start at class 600. All of the other classes are open - including the NPS Home Produced classes. We had a lot of requests for more Home Produced classes - so have tried to cater for these requests. Yes - they are open to abuse - and there is little that can be done to totally prevent this - as we have to rely on exhibitor's honesty and interpretation of the rules. We have tried to make this as clear as possible - but there will always be some people who read the definition differently!!!
The FR/LR classes are as far as possible always in Rings 8 & 9 - which are adjacent to each other. I know that there are some people with both M&M and Show Ponies - so there will be some clashing of these classes unfortunately. I have tried to avoid obvious clashes - but please let me know if there are any really dire clashes that I have missed!
I would love to put on more WH classes - but can only justify having 2 WH rings at the moment - as the classes are only just beginning to be well supported. The intermediate WH classes will be inbetween novice and open heights. The heights of the fences will be put onto the website as soon as possible - and will be in the schedule by the class wording.
Please keep your comments coming!
Betsy Branyan
