I'm taking Hagan my black Labrador puppy to her first show on Sunday. It's only a small family dog show i'm entering her in only a few classes such as pedigree puppy, Sporting, Joiner handler. I'm not sure how to show dogs correctly and what will the judge ask me to do with my dog ?

Your pup must be over 6 months as very few shows allow pups of less than that age enter. You will be asked to stand/stack your dog. The judge will look over him and ask you his age probably.You will then need to run him out so the judge can see him move, she will probably tell you what to do, after you've run him out stand him again before going back into line.

you need to stand him in the lab stance.. which is pretty much square as you would stand a pony... tails held lower than the body and head delt slightly up... you will do a run up.. a triangle and up and down, then stand again. The judge will go all over your dog to feel the conformation... dont worry.. its a learning curve.. have fun..

I didn't get to go as i tripped up and hurt my knee, I'm fine now it was a bit sore. My friend went though a manged to scrape up five ribbons with her parson russell x

Wot a shame you didnt get to go ,but just thought i would still add my bit !!! dont forget your dog should be on your left and you will be moveing anticlockwise !! remember judge needs to see the dog not the handler standing in front of it ! enjoy your dog showing but be warned ....it can get a bit addictive .
