PLease can someone tell me why these show organisers do not talk to each other - please can they expalin why the NCPA Derbys have their spring show on the 25th March - which happens to be the same day as the Midland WPCA show at Solihull - they are just over an hour away from each other We like to do the NCPA shows and we also like to support the WPCA shows - surely if there are in the same area they should consult with each other - then have their shows on different days - keeping the entries up - and competitors happy. I am sure they will say they have to pre book way in advance - but surely 10p phone call wouldnt match all those lost entry fees -

Ah, but maybe it suits some competitors if there's another show a short distance away

Its like this with some of our shows down here...
We have a fair few shows where we have a county show one day and the next day a BSPS area show with RIHS qualifers are on the next day.

The Midlands show has always been at the end of March, and was always the first show of the season, they couldnt get a date last year because of a Solihull RC cock up but have reverted to normal for this year , and the forseealby future. They can not be held responsible for new shows picking the same weekend. There are only so many weelends to choose from It will as has been said a matter of personal choice where people go, and what they want to qualify for.

In defense of any shows, it is VERY hard to get a venue in the winter. Most indoors have a full winter schedule of show juming, dressage, etc etc I know how frustrating it is, when two accessible shows clash, however the only alternative is to not run the show at all!!!
Whether WP&CS always have a show at the end of March or not, is not a high priority concern for Derby NCPA, who always have a winter/spring show for their members ie in Derbyshire!!! (certainly not a new show picking the same weekend) and if the only date they can get is 25th March then so be it.
Why don't you moaners club together & try organising a show? we give up our time & efort for free, & if we are consistently moaned at, then we won't bother!!!! you will then have something definate to moan about
Tanina Staffs NCPA, show on 28th Jan at Barleyfields

As Tanina has said it is very hard (..and expensive!!) to book a winter venue. At one of our local indoor venues in one typical winter month you could participate in BSJA and unaff. showjumping / BD and unaff dressage / a Pony Club Rally / a Pony Club competiton and a BSPS show!!!
Area 2A and area 10 do clash, however 2A is a 2 day show with a good selection of flat classes on the Saturday (10/2) and workers on the Sunday. Area 10 is a flat class show and is on 11/2. A good opportunity to get out twice in a weekend with only one lot of washing/plaiting for some!!!!

I agree with Tanina and Worker Lurker. Unless you've been involved in running shows you've got no idea how difficult it is to fit in with venues, other shows/societies and deadlines for championship qualifications.
I'm sure that no one would deliberatley put on a show that classes with another in close proximity unless they really had no choice - think of the potential entry fees that would be lost for one thing

You can only please some of the people, some of the time.
