hi my 4 year old is been such a pain in backside,i tied her up to groom before exercising as normal, she decided she wasnt going to do that so she pulled back snapped the string off she went barging thro the gate into a field which my other horse was in, after a big sigh i went to catch her, finally caught her brought her back again and tied up and carried on, just about the put bridle on she decided she wasnt doing that either and bombed into sand school, grrrrr, so i went to catch her yet again, tied her again lol, got her tacked up to long rein first thing she does is pulled my flipping arms out, grrrr dont they just rub you up the wrong way sometimes i love her all the same, its not often shes naughty rant over

ooh, I had a pony once that did that! When she learnt that if she pulled back when tied up she could get free, it became a game, tried to do it EVERY time. Was tied up outside and pulled ring and plank of wood off, even though I had string there. Managed to catch her before she ran off with piece of wood trailing behind her, seriously scary stuff! Never tied her up outside agian after that!

Naughty girly! These young horses think it's a game! Sad thing is, they do make me chuckle even when they are naughty! Especially when they are running round snorting thinking they are the bees knees! Haha

Try tying up to one of those rubber bungie things with a clip at either end. Think they're made for trailers but I can't remember what they are called. Anyway they don't give them the feeling of something solid to pull against.

I always use those mm, attached to a metal pole set in concrete so they really can't break anything, for teaching them to be tied up - although the bungee will break if really tested so not dangerous. Only ever had one broken. I do have a bee in my bonnet about ponies that haven't been properly taught to tie up - and if you teach them using the bungee they learn that they can't get away from a rope, so don't try pulling away from people either.

GRRRRR, my horse does this, and did actually manage to rip the wood odd the stable that the ring was srewed into- and she ran off across the field!! Stil ldidn't learn though!!! I have one of the velcro things now, but she is too clever for her own for her own good, and knows it will give way so I still end up endlessly chasing her across the field!!! These things are sent to try us LOL.
