Who do you consider to be the top Section B stallions right now?
Whether showing/not showing/showing in hand/showing ridden.
Would love to hear everyone's opinion, but not "who you like best" necessarily, would like to hear who you think is the TOP.

Moelview Mohawk, at the Waxwing Stud throws consistently good ponies of true "Welsh" type with correct conformation and movement. His fillies are maturing into lovely mares and proving themselves to be top producers and big winners in the showring.
Eyarth Tayma, at Hilin Stud is beautifully bred and has been towards the top of the sire ratings for quite a few years now, his stock are doing very well in the showring.
Heniarth Woodwind is a young up and coming sire with excellent breeding and xome nice foals on the gorund from his first crop, then there is Eyarth Beau Geste, Lemonshill Top Note, Eyarth Rio, Carrwod Orpheus, Eyarth Tomahawk.....I could go on but wouldn't want to bore you.

Soudley Taleisin who is the sire of Lemonshill Top Note, grandsire of Heniarth Stallion . 2 winners at the RIHS last year and top priced ponies at FO. Always seems to throw a fantastic front and plenty of bone. They also jump. No I don't own him .

The mare at Fayre Oaks by him was pick of the B's......

Another vote for Taliesin. My mother owns one cream mare that won RIHS as a 4 yr old last year and we bought another half sister at FO last year. Perhaps even the one mentioned above?!
Anyway, I know we are biased, but even if they aren't your type, both have the most lovely temperaments and as they share a sire, this must have something to do with him.
Good luck

I am slightly bias but I can add to a Taliesin vote-
I have a lovely yearling colt I bred- it is just a shame I will have to sell him as I don't run on colts! Beautiful head and front! and great bone he will make a top class ridden or stallion.

I'm so surprised to see Taliesin with so many votes. He was one I hadn't thought of at all for this list. I will check him out.

I am sorry but I have to add a vote for taliasin aswell. I am a bit biased as I have a 4yr old stallion by him and he is just exquisite but his temp is floorless too.

I am totally biased but have to addmy own boy - Meadowlands Mooncatcher. Not a well known stallion but has won at county level on various occasions and has medalled. His temperament is second to none and he has tons of bone and beautiful free flowing movement. The foals that he is producing are beautiful with the same temperament and the ones that are shown have all won in the showring too.
I know hes not one of the country's top B stallions as he isn't well known but he is definately MY top B stallion!
Just goes to show that not all stallions have to be from the big well known studs!
Ps. If I didn't have my boy my vote would go to Eyarth Shammah -beautiful boy with great conformation

Just goes to show that not all stallions have to be from the big well known studs! I wholeheartedly agree. There are a few lovely stallions hidden away that don't even get advertised! I always like to look at progeny when choosing a stallion for my girls. Temperament and versatility are really high up on my list not just a sire that has won lots of red rosettes. Some of the best ones aren't shown they just let their stock do the talking. o

Can I vote for my lovely old boy Milford Fanfare, he's 20 now so retired from the show ring but was champion many times in hand, ridden(qualified HOYS twice) and worker when he was younger. He has the most amazing temperament and was my nieces riding pony at home and she regained her confidence on him when she had had a really naughty mare. He does not have loads of foals, no more than 6 per year but they all inherit his fantastic temperament and are true childrens ponies besides being very talented jumping ponies. His offspring have qualified for HOYS and RI M&M and show ponies, graded sports pony, BSJA jumping, and countless M&M whp. His sire was by Solway Master Bronze and his dam was by Tetworth Nijinski so he has lovely breeding too, he really is very special and a well loved family member. milfordwelshponies.co.uk/milfordfanfare.html

Cwrtycadno Cymru & Douthwaite Signwriter No longer alive but also a 'great' Eyarth Celebration
and for the next generation Heniarth Woodwind I think is one to watch

Nice to see Millcroft Royal Lustre and Eyarth Celebration on this list. Though so many of those others are fantastic also. I am particularly a fan of Beau Geste and Rio. Well, and Cwrtycadno Cymro too.
I don't find roans personally appealing, though good ponies come in every color!!

had some lovely ponies by Taliesin, Lemonshill Top Note and got 2 super ones by Cwrtycadno Cadfridog (Weydown stud).
But have to make a special mention to Skellorn Silver Coin, how many B stallions have been successful inhand, under saddle and also thrown stock that excels in many disciplines? I've had 5 by him, who've all had super natures and excelled in the show ring and a couple have gone on to bsja very successfully.

Whilst a fan of Taleisin, a much underused stallion is Valentine Musketeer, with Jim Mcnaught. He is up to height, lovely mover and head and plenty of bone. He is out of a very successful WHP and by Downland Meteor who has also produced lots of performers and usually dark bay.If you are in the midlands well worth a look.

Wow I am not a Sec B breeder although we have 3 on our yard we cross with British riding ponies but i am surprised no one has mentioned Carwed Charmer or Orielton Aristocrat!!! I know they have moved on to the paddocks in the sky but what influential sires they where!

Pony2girl, it depends on the type of section B you like. I hate the fact that there are different 'types' of one breed when the breed standard has never changed!

Pony2girl, the original question was "Who do you consider to be the top Section B stallions right now?" which would suggest living stallions?
Sadly, as you say both Carwed Charmer and Aristocrat are no longer with us and yes have to agree they were very influential stallions and will continue to be so through their sons/daughters and g.sons and daughters.
SJP I very much agree there is a big variation in type and the two stallions quoted Carwed Charmer and Aristocrat were very different but also from a different era! But the majority of the other stallions quoted are all very much of a type in that they are Welsh with bone, substance and movement AND quality.
