I have a kitten who was found in my stable he was abandoned, all his family are feral. Anyway he has been with us since 3 weeks old and he is 15 weeks now and was mothered by my oriental. He wont stop scavenging, he is in the dishwasher, on table, kitchen units, jumping on you when your having tea etc. He will rip through packets to get into them, he ate a whole mince pie at christmas, while we were out. My mum has had enough it stops or he has to go! He is fed kitten food and has it all throught the day ad lib so he eats when he wants. What can i do, i dont want him to go. HELP

Firstly has he been wormed? ......enough for the size of him as they are so vunerable at that age to worms, especially as you say he was found in the stables so he cudve probably got something there or it has passed through his mothers milk if you say his family are feral..... That would be my first response. If thats been done adequatley then are you giving him enough to eat? I know that sounds daft in some respect but they are soo active at such a young age they do need alot more feeding. Im sorry if your mum feels the need to rehome him and im sure its upsetting for you, but try and persevere with the worming/enough food first...... Im sure others on here may offer more help/ideas for you. Keep us updated.xx Jo

Hi Jo he is wormed every month as vets reccomended, i have recently noticed he is licking gravy and jelly off kitten food and leaving chunks so he has had to go on adult food as he cant have milk replacer which is in kitten dry food it gives him fits. Hopefully he might get less hungry, he is very active and likes to be in everywhere. Its sad as mum is awefully angry about him trying to eat everything. Ill give him a week eating different food and see how he goes, he has enough food to eat as and when he wants. Lou x

Maybe take him to the vet to get his thyroid checked, I used to volunteer at Cat's Protection and one of the cats that had thyroid problems was always hungry and quite agressive around food until he started having tablets.
