Swallows have arrived in the yard today! I love them. Get fed up later on when they start dive-bombing us! But great to see them back.

They always nest in the ladies toilet at our yard - you have to dodge the bombs as you wash your hands!!

I will keep on the look out, they have been coming for years in my big stable. The horses never seem to bother with them swooping over their heads.
Roll on summer I feel guilty I left their rugs on this morning as it was quiet cold, boiling now they will be very hot and sweaty when I bring them in

They are now nesting in 6 of our stables!
And have been dive-bombing everyone including the horses, but they seem to like them!
They are really pretty though!

So glad that I'm not the only crackpot that loves the swallows!
Ours came back on monday which was 2 weeks later than last year (yes I do write it in my diary!!)
So pleased to see them always dive bombing me and the ponies... Cat always manages to catch one or two...
Nest in our stables, dad always teling me to get rid of the nests during the winter but I just love to see them! Even left out the horse hair we'd scraped off the hairy poines in case they wanted to line their nests with it!!!

I absolutely love to see the babies. When they fledge they sit on the rafters in a row, I have some lovely photos. The small inconveniences they cause are so worth it. Somehow it's just summer in England and I love it.

Ours arrived three weeks ago, promptly had a huge row, built a new nest and this morning there were 5 little babies in it. I just love them flying about the place, they have great sport with the yard cat who after 3 years still has'nt cottoned on, and allows himself to be worked up into a fury by their dive bombing. And like Piper love to see the fledglings getting their flying lessons, all sat there in a row on top of the flourescent tubes until the parents come in and push them off. They usually hatch 2 clutches a year and its a sad day when all are fledged and the parents set off for warmer climes, we know then its the end of summer.
