My section b yearling is looking absolutely fab, ready for the ring except........... he has very little top line. He has a fantastic long front but needs to build up his top, any suggestions for a way to get this looking good.

If it's feasible, try giving him his feed in a manger off the floor (ie: corner manger or bucket that hooks over the stable door/fence). It's a safe way to improve the topline muscles without putting undue stress on such a young pony, IMHO.

We give our youngsters a bit of Blue Chip to put topline on - but not too much it is so expensive!!

My youngsters all develop a good topline because they live out in a field with hills - nothing better IMO for helping them to develop a natural topline and a good bum!

today I fixed up the carriers for the hook on buckets in the babies boxes, so in six or so weeks will be able to tell you if feeding off the floor helps. I did use the strap on Daffodil very gently last autumn, but that was more to prepare her for what lies ahead more than an effort at building any muscle, she did'nt bat an eye but I felt a bit mean biffing a baby, even if it was just a hefty pat!! But her neck is like a piece of spaghetti at the moment.

Took advice about hook on manger, he eats out of it like a little angel and it's just right height, thanks so much, didn't want to pump the food in. Common sense really wasn't it, durrrrrr stupid me.
