I would be quite happy to use a 17hh on a 16hh mare there would in my opinion be no question of that cross.

What type and size do you want? I always look further back than sire and dam to give me a general idea of what they may throw. I currently have a 15hh and counting small horse bred from a 14hh mare by a 13.3 stallion, but the tb blood has thrown back in his size. I also did some digging into the background of a 15hh stallion I wanted to put on this mare with huge back breeding, but he only seems to throw small foals. I would agree with holiday, he is an easy size to mate with your mare, but I would think carefully about what they are likely to produce and whether that is what you want.

Like RPs, WBs are from a mix of bloodlines which may vary greatly, giving less consistency in size than using a pure bred. When I used one, who was a neat 16hh horse, on my 14.1hh D, I did check back and he had a high proportion of TB blood with no heavyweights in his breeding. I go one a whisker under 16hh and one 14.2 jumping pony from the cross, shows you never can tell. I'm afraid I'm not very up in knabstruppers though to help with that side of it.
