I agree with snowflake. Thats why i think Cherif do a better job than HOYs ever could due to the timetable already being packed. Most PBA that are good enough for cherif already qualify for HOYS in other classes

i think there should be, they have added the maxi cobs so why can't they add the part bred arabs aswell because they are very popular at all shows!!

Why not, RI have them, and just split them , under 148cm and over. Easy, same as cherif allthough they are split 3 ways there.

well I'm not against the idea, they are brilliant classes, but I'm sure all PBA's are already catered for at hoys with sp/shp/ints/horse classes? Therefore whether grandstand media would consider putting them on in an already packed schedule I don't know.

I chatted very briefly to Joy Hall last year about putting on the PBA classes at HOYS. We sponsor the classes at the RIHS and they are fantastic classes full of quality animals, I am sure the BSPS would love to have the classes at HOYS. At the end of the day it is Grandstand Media who decide what classes are held at HOYS.

The Cherif Championship instigated the ridden Anglo & Part-bred Arab classes at the RIHS in 1993. We are still the only competition that has qualifiers at the RIHS for our final. We have approached HOYS on two occasions, asking if they would consider including classes for A/A & PBA's. They would only ever consider putting on two classes. If anyone is considering possible sponsorship, please contact us.
At the final this year, we split the classes into five sections.

I think it would be fab to have PBA's at HOYS there's so many nice ones!! Lots with riders like myself who are out of the SP/ISRT still ride in the PBA classes, so a really good class!!!

PBA classes at hoys would be great if they were run under AHS rules and not BSPS. this would do two things, One - fill up the ever decreasing pba classes at the county shows and two - qualify a true to type pony rather than a sticky legged show pony. just my opinion. x

Yes and no because like it's said above, you'd practically get the classes full of show ponies of different heights. I think the should do a home produced class for show ponies, hunter ponies and intermediates though, as then it would give the home produced teams a better chance to qualify for Hoys.

I'd like to see the percentage of arab blood raised to 25% or 50% in pba. I understand its due to lack of numbers. Non Cherif Q classes are becoming ridiculous with horses and ponies being entered at some shows with only about 5% (maybe less). What happened to them being the epitomy of elegance? Are they not supposed to still have arab qualities? I agree that some pba are quality animals but are not of type to enter other classes such as riding pony or hack.

Thought the minimal ammount of arab blood was 12.5 ?? I still think this is too low. My girl has 25 % and you can just about see the arab in her. If she was 12.5 % i think it would all ne gone.

I think riding at the cherif is just as good as riding at hoys, if not even better!

Yes 12.5% for Cherif Q. But a lot of county and unaf shows do not state % and people take advantage of that even though they have loads of other classes. :-(
