I am looking for a doberman rescue. I have recently moved to a new area and unfortunatly have had to have my 17yr lurcher pts. I have one4yr lurcher but she needs a friend and i thought as i live alone and i am in a new secluded area i would get a guard breed. As i love lurchers the doberman looks very simular and can keep up with my lurcher, I walk a lot and can give one a very good home. i did see the advert in the dogs for sale for the pups but unfortunatly could not afford that amount of money. Any help would be appreaciated.

All breds have a rescue affiliated to the kennel club so maybe you could google it and come up with something. There is a directory of rescues which is distributed to vets so maybe you could ring your local vet and ask them for your nearest one if you can't find anything on line. We have a directory at work but i wont be back in the office until next Tuesday but if you don't find anything before then PM me on Mon night and remind me and I'll have a look for you.

I also have tried to get onto dogsblog...but it gives me a warning saying"site infected"...I am not too clever on the computer.....is dogsblog infected? If i could help this lad in norfolk i would...but i cant get to him

Maive it could be the way I copied the link!! the site address is www.dogsblog.com or google dogsblog - you can either just scroll down which shows all recent dogs or scroll down and select the breed from the list on the right. I've never had any problems with the site re being infected Just found another and they are in Lancs www.dobermanntrust.org.uk/

Wish i lived nearer to these rescues as i would even concider fostering or just walking the dogs befor and after i adopted.I am going out today for a good few hours as i do most days and would of loved to take one of those dogs with me. Well things are set in motion now, thank you all for the help.

Hello !
I saw your chat and couldn't help but join in ! The Dobermann Trust are based in West Yorkshire and we take dogs in throughout the North of England but we rehome them ANYWHERE in the UK. Our fosterers are also all over the UK.
My Dobie girl has a lurcher pal and yes, you're right, they definitely give each other a run for their money as they're both so speedy!
If you have a good home to offer or even if you're considering fostering we would LOVE to hear from you. Our number is 01274 288 055 or email dogs@dobermanntrust.org.uk
Dobes are actually brilliant dogs to have amongst horses (assuming they've been trained to appreciate big hooves!) as they happily run alongside doing doggy things when you're out on a hack. They have so much energy and 'tired' or 'give up' simply doesn't apply to a Dobe so they'll just keep going like the Duracell bunny.
(I hope this isn't contravening the rules because it's not a horsey link details - sorry mods ?)
