You have to be a member of what ever society your horse best fits in to eg CHAPS for coloured horse and pony. Once a member you will then need a HOYS qualifiying card which you will need to enter on your entry forms tom enable you to enter the class...

Not all classes require a HOYS qualifying card. For all the "pony" classes you can be a member of PUK, BSPS or NPS in order to enter & no HOYS qualifying card needed. If it is only HOYS you are trying to qualify for then your PUK membership is fine but if you want to try for RIHS then you may also need other societies' membership even for the pony classes.

On a similar note does anyone know if when you compete at hoys are you governed by the rules of the society that you are a member of or do hoys have their own rules? Thanks

Most classes are run under the rules of the relative Society e.g. Hacks etc. are under BSHA, however the classes that HOYS introduced e.g. Ridden M&M's etc., are run under HOYS own rules, hope that helps.
