Depends on my mares, how well the foaling went, how they are looking, some I will cover every year especially older mares others I will cover every other or longer.

I only cover to get something I want to keep, usually a good daughter of each mare to keep families going. So it's far more variable and depends on many factors. I'm currently hardly covering any A mares as there is no market (you do of course get colts and fillies not good enough which will be for sale at some point), only two, neither of which have had a foal for me at all yet. Senior A mare is now retired but I have two lovely daughters anyway and apart from the two above the others are young enough to wait for a bit, and a couple are lent out for a ridden career. As for the Ds - I'm still trying to breed myself a daughter of my stallion to keep but I have very few mares for him to cover. Hoping for a female version of the one that went to the Futurity last year holiday!
