Has anyone used this before?
I was just reading through an article on testing a mare for foaling and wondered if anyone had used this method and how acurate they found it?

I don't know anyone that has ever used one of these but it reminded me of a girl that used to be on a farm I was on who told me they had just found out the mare they had bought was in foal..... how did they come to that conclusion? A pregnancy test from boots!!!! Needless to say the mare wasn't in foal ;D

I would interested in finding out how successful it is too as I have a mare that will not let a vet within a 100yrds of her so we have to guess wether she is in foal, not always easy as she never gets the typical pregnant belly!

I think the only problem you have with them is that you have to wait for the mare to urinate or catch it somehow, could be quite hard to do.

I have a tip for that from when mine was drug tested at a show (negative as I knew it would be!). They have a box with clean straw down but sprinkle some pee around on it which prompts them to go when brought into the box. A saucepan on a long stick and bob's your uncle!

i have used them and found they are very accurate and catching the wee is very easy just have a rug on over night ,then get 2 joddy clips ,get an old carrot bag cut it down then put a cut down leamonade or coke bottle in it with a sponge then clip the carrot bag to the rug and hey prestow the sponge stops the wee plshin out and it doesnt have to be starile

A lady i know has used one she had to stand in her field 7 hours a day as pony lived out to try catch her wee. The results show within 5 minutes but a vet has told us they are not the most accurate of things.
