Hi just wanted some advice. My daughter is going in to her first year as first ridden and we have given up with lead rein as the pony is more suited to first ridden. As she is only 7 she could do tiny tots first ridden but where would i find shows to qualify not too far from Wales and would she have to qualify for BSPS champs or is it an open class? Any advice more than welcome.

are you in north wales? if so, there are classes suitable for your tiny tot 9/4/11 @ Warren Farm, Formby, Merseyside ... indoors, great practice and no cantering ... the idea is to give little uns confidence and get going before the summer season gets underway .... please copy and past the following onto your web browser bar: docs.google.com/View?id=ddxdkgp6_203fkfwh8gr

We are is South West Wales unfortunately. What a lovely show! Would absolutley love to go to it, just too far! So far i have put her in first pony SH, a first ridden and an open small breeds. She is quite happy cantering around and pony is an angel in the ring. her pony has been there done that etc! She just needs more experience on her actual showing and ring etiquette. I think i am thowing her in at the deep end lol but she is up for anything and hated lead rein. She didnt like me being in the ring telling her to sit up!

good luck Dixie ... may i just offer a little word of advice from personal experience? until your little one has plenty of FR experience under her belt, i would stick to the FPSHT & FR as in open small breeds, your little one may be in the ring with stallions, a gallop is expected and the class is far more uptempo than a first ridden class and it would be a shame to dent her confidence if anything went wrong she could, of course, do FR M&M

Keep your eyes open for Llandeilo Farmers Hunt schedule - Show is at Cothi Bridge on 2/7/11. We will hopefully be holding the BSPS Bright Stars classes, together with 'just off lead rein' the majority of classes will be SWPA & Equifest qualifiers too www.llandeilofarmershunt.webs.com(Schedule isn't up yet)!!

dixie1 - the tiny tots FR classes at BSPS champs do not require qualification (SP SHP or M&M) however you do have to qualify for the "normal" FR classes & would have to join BSPS for those classes. If you have never been a member of BSPS before then you have 7 working days after you qualify to join & register. Hope this helps

Thanks for the repiles. We have joined BSPS already this season just to give it a go! Pony had been registered in past but we transfered her over to us. Will steer away from opens! Will definitely try Cothi Bridge. She wants to have a go at Royal Welsh First Ridden so may go there. We go every year and she has always wanted to ride there.
