We are going to the NPS Spring Festival next Saturday and have paid for a stable for the Friday night. We've now decided to go up very early on the Saturday morning but will keep the stable to put the pony in after his class so we can enjoy the show - he doesn't stand happily for long on his own on the trailer! As we've never done anything like this before, please can anyone answer the following questions for me: 1. Do we get any say over where the stable will be ie one of the permanent or one of the temporary ones? 2. How many bales of shavings should we take, bearing in mind he's not going to be in the stable for more than a couple of hours? 3. Do we have to clear the stable after we've used it? Thanks in advance C x

Thanks in advance C x It would be best to e-mail or phone the NPS Show Secretary, Geth Tillin and ask her. I think it will be all 'perminant' boxes for this show. They have a rough surface and are not on grass. Probably, straw will be in the stable (a bale, but not laid) Otherwise, if he has to be on shavings, then a bale would be sufficient for your'couple of hours'. That is up to you. Another time, when you make a stable booking, it is helpful to the organisers to ask on the Booking Form where/what your preferences are (although we are expected to, show Stable Managers don't have chrystal balls!!!) Mucking out when you leave - it's sensible to skip out and keep his box clean during the show anyway. And, a polite gesture to leave the stables tidy. But, after only 'a couple of hours', your nice new bale of shavings could be gathered into sacks and taken home if you wished! (remember to bring extra, if you were going to do this)
