Hi my mare is a maiden and expecting her first foal in 4 weeks. She has started bagging up but seems to have swellings in front of her teats and i just wondered if this is normal. thanks

My mare has swellings in front of her teats all year round, vets at first thought it was breast tissue but its lypomas, just excess fat when she gets fat they do and when she gets thiner they shrink. Sounds though like your mares might be breast tissue. I bet your excited not long to go now x

It is normal to get the fatty lump in front of her bag. Mine normally starts getting hers at 4 weeks before foaling so yours looks like it might be on time!

very normal sometimes they get odema along the belly too
