Sorry, but I think you will be very lucky to find a good quality Highland for that budget. I've just paid more than that for a Highland yearling.....demand is pretty high just now. I'm not trying to put you off looking, just being realistic.

I agree with guestless - I thought that when I first saw the ad - I have four Highlands and had them all since 2/3 year olds and they were all way over that budget. You are probably best contacting the studs (it's worth a try) - check out the Highland Pony Society website highlandponysociety.com - they have a sales list but also links to studs. Good luck

Try Achnacone. They are advertising one £1250. might be worth considering...? You are at the extreme low end for buying almost anything, this is just a youngster but might be worth bringing on. spanishorse.homestead.com/mypageindex.htmlOther than that you could keep an eye on Scotquest. You might be lucky there.

Also look on adtrader.co.uk as you can sometimes pick up a bargain on there

Totally agree most foals these days will cost you that at weaning!might be worth while contacting the Brownbread Stud, they rescue Highlands as well they may have something cheaper.

Blimey you might be lucky and find a kind and benevolent person or an older pony looking for a good long term home, have you thought how much it costs to breed and keep any pony until its 3 years old? Start with the mare and then add stud fee - possible travel costs to stud and keep whilst away, then add keep of mare whilst in foal, farrier, wormers hay etc for 18 months ie from covering to weaning, don't forget tetanus for both and maybe a visit from the vet, wormers for foal, registration costs and then work out the cost of keeping the foal from weaning until it is 3 years old. You may also like to consider the labour costs involved in handling etc to make sure there aren't any problems in later life. If you can only afford £1500 maybe you should see if you can find a pony on loan while you see if you can save up a bit more. Good luck with your search.

I have been looking for several months now with a appreciation that they aren't going to be cheap but still cant find one. It seems good ones for sale are like gold dust!
