Following last year’s successful Armed Forces Weekend Marazion, the organisers are set for their second year over the weekend of 2nd and 3rd July. Supported and partly financed by the Ministry of Defence Parades and Ceremonials Department.
We are planning to open the event with a Parade mounted in the Folly Field this year. If sufficient veterans, service men and women come forward. ALL veterans are more than welcome to join in. Land Army, Bevin Boys, ATS, WVS, WAAF, Merchant Navy, Scouts, Cubs, Brownies, Guides. Indeed ALL youth organisations. Medals may be worn together with commemorative medals. Please Join us. Attractions are military displays by the South West Battle Group and Living history. There will be weapons on display from ww11 to present day. These include British, American and German. 50mm Browning heavy machine gun, Bazooka, rifles, Sten gun and many more. See them fired with blank ammo. Medical displays from WW11. 32nd Cornwall Regiment of Foot from the Peninsular wars and Waterloo. Knights in armour, Track laying vehicles. Battle re-enactments with real explosives and blank ammunition. Military Vehicles will be on display. Members of the regular Armed Forces will join us to give displays and information. Entertainers will bring you constant enjoyment. willyie Lines will entertain together with Dolly Peg, Debbie sings the war years and 1940’s UK Radio. Radio control tanks and armoured fighting vehicles. Hayle Town Band playing on Saturday. An action packed weekend. Our NAAFI will serve food throughout the day and evening. Our bar will be serving a good range of drinks for all.
Saturday evening there will be a 1940’s themed evening, music, singing, dancing, Bar, Food. If you would like to attend the evening please contact us for Guest tickets or see us during the day. Sunday 2pm there will be a Drumhead Church Service in the main field. All Veteran Groups and others may parade their colours and flags. The service will be jointly arranged by the Marazion Anglican Church and Chapel congregations. Music will be played by the Pendeen Band.
