I have 2 lovely GSDs. I adore them both (and little chi of course). The eldest GSD is 10 and the youngest one is 3. The eldest one has started pinning the younger one down and biting her nose Its horrible and very upsetting The stupid thing is, they love each other, play together and pine for each other, if one goes away I dont understand why she is doing this and what I can do? The elder one, has got very stiff in her back legs lately and I wonder if this is why? I have put her on some tablets to help this, but she is still stiff and the biting is getting worse

It's horrid when the are grumpy with each other! Mine just make a lot of noise but when intervene they know their place! Is she in pain with her back legs and she is just feeling a bit over sensitive? Maybe get her checked out. Mine often have little spats but are soon friends again both crammed into one bed! 'lovers tiff' Is she grumpy with the cats and jasper?

Sounds as though your older girl is feeling a bit fragile and threatened so is being defensive could be worth getting your Vet to assess her, especially if it is out of character

Yes I think I will take her to the vets She has always been bossy to the younger one, but this is horrible. Its as if she doesnt like seeing Penny rushing about, as she cant do it anymore ? She is fine with Jasper and the Cats, just Penny .........

She is feeling a bit "old" bless her,and also Penny probably annoys her with youthfull enthusiasm when she is feeling a bit slow and elderly.

Agree she's probably feeling her aches and pains - my old Beagle will play happily with the other dogson the yard when she's in the mood, but on a damp day or when she's sleeping she will snap at them if they push their luck. They soon learn to 'check poitely' before jumping at her!! She will sometimes march into the middle of a rough game and 'tell' the lot of them to settle down if its getting a bit rowdy! I have sewenher put her mouth round the snout of her best friend, whithout actually biting - just asserting her seniority!!
