Look into local travel lodge/inns. get good deals. Make sure you leave your number on stable door in case of any emergencies, and even better if someone you know is staying on site so you can ask them to be emergency contact!

There is a caravan company that drop caravans off at the showground, think bigmama on here hires them, send her a pm for the phone number xx We camp every year a love every minute of it, we made friends the first year and have camped as a group every year since, i don't think you would get the same experience if you slept in a hotel

Premier Inns, reasonable and if you book in advance you get better deals. Also you give your credit card details but they don't take the money till you actually arrive. Although I must admit the caravan sounds a lot more appealing.

They have a good night guarantee, if you have any problems, tell them about it and you don't pay! I do know someone first hand who had a problem with their room, it was easily sorted but next morning at checkout their bill was waived. Having said that I've stayed in Premier Inns quite a bit and always found them clean and comfortable and good value for money.
Oh and I don't know if you have children in your party, but if you buy an £8 all you can eat breakfast at the hotel the kids go free!
