Burns, or James Wellbeloved foods can help clear it up especially if it is an allergy.
Poor little thing. Hope she soon feels better.

My itchy dog is on james wellbeloved I also bath her with gallop medicated shampoo it works wonders. My oriental is on royal canin hypoallergenic and I can safely say if the vet hand not swapped her food she woulld be dead now its not cheap but she's a totally different cat now.

My dog is gluten intolerant, she's been on a gluten free diet for four years or so now... She is fed on Macks Mix which is sold in Glasgow, and (pet shops own brand) it's brilliant... half the price of JWB/Burns for a bag the same size.. I mix this with half a pouch of Nature's Menu (available in Pets At Home) she loves it and does well on it.
Surprised vet did not give Prednisolone for the itch, as this too will rid dog of the itch without need for Piriton, once the irritation is gone this can be erased from the diet, much easier then to see if the diet alone is working.
Can make treats for the dog using Doves gluten free flour... Tuna bread is acceptable for dogs and never met a dog that doesn't like it lol think the recipe is on here somewhere.

Bakers made my dog hyper.. this was before I had her and before we realised she had a gluten intolerant.. Bakers is fine if the dog is working.... but can make pet dogs hyperactive... You wouldn't give your child blue smarties everyday... so why give the dog Bakers, with thier 11 E numbers??

it could be too much protein in the diet.. try some rock sulpher in her water too.. how old is she! Chappie is fish based and very hypo allergenic, so a good all round food.. I presume you have done all the obvious of de flea'ing and mites etc etc..... try also washing her in hexocil shampoo.. good luck

Mine has bakers, after trying all the expensive 'quality' dried foods, all of which she either didn't like, wouldn't eat, or gave her a gippy tummy, she eats all her bakers, her tummy is spot on and she isn't hyper. And the vet says she's spot on weight wise.
My brother's spaniel who is allergic to just about everything has James Wellbeloved. And lots of plain boiled rice.

Milliesmum... that's great that Bakers works for your dog, I wasn't damming the product, but most dogs who aren't a working breed (and who don't work) do not do well on it. IME Chappie is not hypoallergenic, esp if the dog is allergic to gluten... gluten is found in cereal and chappie is mostly cereal based. However I would use Chappie if dog wasn't allergic to gluten because it IS a good food.

ive got an english bull terrier and he used to itch all the time and we tried every kind of food from the vets , burns ,hills ,and everything down to the cheapest nastiest stuff, some made him worse, some made him have continuous runny tummy ,the worst were the expensive ones he was raw, poor thing,it took us almost a year of experimenting to find the right one for him and it was tescos own brand dried complete ,it took about a week and the best bit is it costs £3.50 a week to feed him!!!

Another vote for Tesco's own brand. My JR's look really well on it. My diabetic JR has Hill's prescription dog food, and is looking really well at last after going down to skin and bone around 6 months ago. My sister's itchy JR is allergic to rice, so all the expensive hypoallergenic food made her worse.
