Hi,
I'm not quite sure why my advert in the small breeds section was deleted. I have read the rules and it states that if the ponies are different then you can have another advert. The advert for the two breeding mares is still on but the one for the two two year old fillies has been deleted. I realise they are all Section A's but there is a difference between fillies which you can't breed from and mares which you can so for clarity I put them as two separate adverts. If I'd put them on one thread I'd have never explained in the title exactly what was for sale.
I wouldn't mind so much but the administration doesn't appear to delete adverts which have quite clearly been bumped up deliberately so I feel a little aggrieved that my second advert was deleted so quickly.

Most deleted adverts are reported by other users. We don't deliberately go looking for them as we have better things to do. The ones that you think we miss have obviously not been reported.

Many thanks for that explanation. I fully understand that the administration team have better things to do! I also appreciate what you do.
However I would like to know what was wrong with my advert? If I have not read the rules properly then I hold my hands up but an explanation would be greatly appreciated.

You can only have one advert in one section. So if the ponies are different types (e.g. one advert for a Shetland in the small breeds section and one advert for a Dales in the large breeds section) it's ok to post adverts in both appropriate sections. But if they're in the same section it has to be one advert.

Personally I think it comes down to what the wording 'different types' mean. A while a go I put two different ads on - one was for a colt and the other was a filly - both Welsh Section B's - my ads never got deleted. They are different types of Section B. Now to me a mare is a different type of pony to a filly?
I think for clarification purposes the rules need to state a 'different breed'
I'm not trying to be difficult but 'different types' can be interpreted several ways. And it seems that is what I have done!
As it turns out one of the fillies has been sold this morning so I would have had to change the ad today anyway. In this instance am I safe to advertise the remaining filly on a new thread or do I need to modify the current ad I already have on? Perhaps if I just replied and added the filly on then that would bump my existing ad back to the top of the page again!! But I'm guessing if I did that then my ad would get deleted?
I'm not trying to be difficult here but I don't want to get my ads deleted!

Right, the rules are, one advert per person per section. So if you have two small breeds or two coloureds or two hunter ponies, you put them on one advert. If you had a coloured and a section A, they would be in different advertising sections, so that would be OK. It's really simple - I don't see how anyone would find that difficult to understand.
The Bumping rule is, fourteen days must have passed since the last comment on the thread. No chatting, 'that's a lovely pony' type comments, or 'I have PM'd you' comments. If someone asks a question relevant to the item for sale, it's ok to answer the question. Any extra information or photographs should be added by modifying the original post.
We also do not permit cross posting - that means you can't put the same ad in more than one section - pick your section and stick to it.
Also I may delete adverts if they have copyrighted pictures, or if they have pictures of somone riding without a riding hat.

Okay so I understand it is one advert now per section. So I now want to advertise some welsh section b colts for sale. As I already have one advert regarding welsh section a mares which is in the same section as the b's will be in I'm guessing now that I have to either modify that advert or forget advertising the colts for the time being?
How long do I have to wait until I can put a new advert on then? Do I have to wait 14 days?
Finally I thought this was meant to be a forum help section? I don't think it helps when you receive a comment stating that its simple and that you don't understand how anyone can find the rules difficult to understand?
All I'm trying to ascertain here is how to ensure I abide by the rules. Now if I don't find it as simple as some other people then I apologise for being thick. However I do think the rules are not exactly crystal clear. I would just like some guidance. I enjoy Horsegossip and just want to try and use it correctly.

I apologise, I do find it very frustrating when the rules are clearly displayed in each section, and people either don't read them before posting, or think that they can get away with not abiding by the rules.
You can modify your existing advert to add the colts. You should do this by modifying the original post, then you won't be 'bumping' your ad. If your advert is no longer on the front page of your chosen section, then you can make a new thread - I would advise you only do this if the existing ad is no longer current, i.e. item is sold or no longer for sale - otherwise if it is bumped back onto the first page, you might find your new ad removed.
Also, it might be worth mentioning that the for sale areas are a free service for our members - and that people who join the forum purely for advertising purposes and do not participate in other areas of the forum should use the equine services section, along with any trade or business adverts.

Many thanks for the information milliesmum - greatly appreciated - I now know what to do.
In respect to your final paragraph I can assure you that I simply don't just use horsegossip to advertise ponies for sale. The Section As I've put for sale are on behalf of elderly friends who are moving house and need to sell their ponies. Unfortunately they have no idea where to start advertising their ponies so I'm just trying to help them out. I use the results page on a regular basis and have started a couple of threads here too. I've also used the site to help me find out some advice on side saddles.
As I've said previously I like the forum and at this juncture would like to say a big thank you to all the moderators who assist with it - you do a sterling job. I now hope I can go unreported as I now have a clear understanding of the rules!!! However I would say there are quite a few who don't!!!!!

If you spot anything we've missed, click on 'report to mod' and we'll sort it - we do try to make it fair for those that stick to the rules.

Hi,
I note on the small breeds for sale page that at least one person has put two adverts on for the same type of pony - just like I did. If you report someone do they get to find out in any way who reported them? If so, please can you advise on who reported me?
