Why don't we ask for measuring to take place at all shows with HOYS qualifiers. The in hand ponies already have this done at NPS and the Royal.

Good idea but I think would be a logistical nightmare with the numbers entered in some classes ( although if people knew they would be measured then it would halve the classes no doubt!!!)
How about measuring those in potentially qualifying positions after the classes? ie in BSPS classes the top five. Then the ticket could be passed down the line. Obviously there would have to be a good allowance but surely something like two inches would be fine - the maximum that any animal could be expected to drop surely? Ones that were just over would slip through but it would catch the huge animals out.
Or maybe the societies could give the judges the power to move the pony into the next height if they thought it was too big - as the SHB do with the weights. It would take a brave judge though!! But if it was done a couple of times it would soon sort the problem.
