Sam and I have been planning on going to Equefest for ages. We have two stables booked already. Our friends who were going to come with us, cant come now I am getting a bit worried about it, being away from home and no hubby/friend to help me. There will be other friends there, but they will all be doing their own thing. Sam is also saying he is a bit scared about going now. Shall we drop out and try and sell our stables

don't do it lovepink! You will have soo much fun. its such a friendly show, there will be streams of gossipers all saying hello and chatting al week, as well as non gossipers, everyone is there for a good time!
I am sure i have read on here a gossiper that was willing to lend a helping hand as they are not taking a pony...? Can't remember who it was though, anyone shed some light? ;D

Red area. Trouble is - I went to dressage yesterday on my own. No-one was there I knew and I was feeling tearful and needed a hug In the end I got so morose, I just got in the lorry and went home. I am fairly fragile at the best of times and I worry that I will get very unstable away from security of home...... I am in the red stables. Its not really physical help I need, just friendly supportive faces, who know why I am wobbly

I've still not braved sending my entry in yet so you're already braver than me! You definitely shouldn't sell the places, you have to keep them or you'll regret it when it comes to the day and you've decided to give it a go and can't if you've sold them. Hang on to them and see what happens there's a long time to go yet even if you just go and have a ride round then make a judgement when you're there. There are always so many 'what if's' in life so don't decide yet, leave the option open.

The entries are supposed to be in by 18th July? Are you all entering before hand or the night before? I had thought that you entered for your class you qualified for and then just entered the others on the day before? I thought there was no extra charge for doing this? Did my addled brain invent this information? What if I enter all the classes and then bottle out? I will have lost so much money

LP - no. Not a good idea. Be brave - Sam will 'mirror' you so you need to be brave for him too and he will be brave with and for you.
I know this probably sounds very harsh and I don't mean it to, but, (given my own home situation) - I have had to continue doing things, going to things, dealing with things, judging things*. I AM on my own. With the best will in the world, little Teazle can't 'help' me, although she is there. When I visit John at the hospital - which I need to do with great regularity), I need a John to support me visiting John. But, I don't have one tucked up my sleeve. I simply have to get on with it.
Only a tiny handful of times have I had the benefit of someone to come with me.
Yesterday (please read the Dementia thread if you wouldn't mind, what I wrote doesn't doesn't belong here) young Annie (so, so brave) made my mind up for me. She lost her own Mum just last spring and she is still only 12. And a physically small 12, (by the way LP, Sam's shirt will be perfect for her for next year, when hopefully she's grown a bit more)
I might just bring her to Equifest when I judge there, if her Dad lets her. She could meet up with you and Sam.
No, go for it. Lots of people will be supportive and will lend a hand.
* that includes Judging at Equifest; a first for me at that show, too (although I know the P'bro showground very well.

Thank you so much........ I am steeling myself to be strong and set my mind on going. Tough week coming up as its the anniversary of Jamies death on Wednesday so maybe thats why I am getting so pathetic. If Jamie was still here, he would be jumping up and down with enthusiasm to go, so I wouldnt have a choice. I would love to meeting up with as many HG friends as possible, as it would make me feel less alone xxxx

Do it - LP will be fine. Sam will be fine. They'll have a Ball. It's a lovely and very well-appointed showground, always has been.... (showers which work, many loos etc) - and I'm told, E/fest is a great show. For all that my home problems deepen by the day, I am looking forward to my judging appointments there. (both for E/fest and for NPS)

yes, lovepink we WILL all meet up ... let's swap mobile numbers now by personal message on horsegossip ..... i suffer from the 'what if's' and i have my husband and daughter coming with me to Equifest and i too am judging there however i am determined to go and have a ball as we do every year @ Equifest ... it is such a friendly show .... and i am a sucker for giving big hugs whether they're needed or not! ... and as you say, Jamie would have loved the excitement of getting ready and going to Equifest and i'm sure he'll be with you in spirit every step of the way .. so shake off those doubts my darling and let's go have a great time, it will be just what you need and you'll be so glad you went Jackie xxxx

Thank you Nursery, we would love to see you there I have made a decision today !!! I am going - Sam is going - I am going to send my entries in....... BUT I am only going to take Sams pony candy and we will share her. I was taking my mare Violet too, but I just cant cope with the work and the worry of two being there. Half the packing, half the cost, half the work, half the weight in my old lorry. Shame for poor Violet, not getting to strut her stuff, but she knows she is champion in my eyes and always will be I have had so many pms and messages, offering support, it is just lovely and has helped me to reach a positive decision xxxxx

Love pink, I think you are incredibly brave just for posting that you were feeling nervous rather than deciding not to go and that being the end of it. I am so happy for you that so many of your friends want you to be there.
