Beckside little toff. Absolutely beautiful stock with temperments to die for. Give the boy extra breakfast.

Keston Royal Occasion was a Sec B. I loved Tanner Whirlwind and Smalland Mascot. My favourite pony stallion ever was the connemara Kirtling Brigadoon, incomparable within the breed.

Orielton Aristocrat was the most influential sire of lead rein and first ridden ponies in this country and if you look in the RI or HOYS catalogues you would find that most of the ponies there are by him or are his grandchildren or great grandchildren so Aristocrat for me!! Behind him Beckside Little Toff who sired 14 finalists in the LR/FR and 128cm at RI this year. He will be 21 next year and covered a mare again yesterday and every mare he has covered this year is tested in foal!! I agree he was the most fantastic pony for all the little LR and FR and is in all of our ponies breeding and also put a rich colour into them.

Has to be Bwlch Valentino followed by Wingrove Minkino if you base it on their influence on show pony beeding IMO. Valuable old lines indeed !!

What about Gems Signet? Think he was gelded at four but, amongst others, was the sire of Holly of Spring. Agree. And, Many small TB Stallions, incuding Ardencaple, Rudi and my late Mother's illustrious McGredy and his son Celtic Ballad. But, the Patriach of them all has to be B. Zephyr, Zingaree and Zip's sire Bwlch Valentino and NO-one has mentioned him. Just too far away for the young people to care about, I suppose. Not to some of us young people who have read up on their breeding history. B. Valentino, B. Zephyr, B. Hill Wind, Sarnau Royal Cloud, Sarnau Golden Cloud, Sarnau Royal Falcon, Valiant, small tb's like Ardencaple, Ujiji etc... The endless list of influential riding pony sires could go on and on. Names that crop up in the pedigree of so many of todays champions. Not all of the younger generation will leave these stallions to be forgotten.

Bwlch Valentino must be the all time great and Gems Signet, although gelded young produced Holly of Spring arguably the most successful SP of all time. Latterly Kilvington Scoundrel must be one of the most prolific on winners but obviously the more fashionable the stallion is the more, and higher standard, mares they will get. All the above mentioned are outstanding.
