This new set of qualifiers (for autumn festival) has been very badly supported at many of the 2011 shows. It seems some competitors are not sure of the rules as one person asked me at the weekend "what fiddley show do we have to do?" I think the name "Grand Prix" may be conjuring up dressage moves etc. It is simply an open qualifier with the benefit of having separate breed classes unlike large breeds/small breeds. Same NPS judges, same go round, same individual shows, same strip. Each breed qualifies for the autumn festival and I think there are plans for champions to do a show to music. Please look into the rules and enter these qualifiers. This Saturday, area 20 have a set of these qualifiers entries are poor, please give them a go.

I do think there needs to be more clarity about these classes. We did one and weren't in the rosettes but were highest placed of a particular breed. We weren't given a qualifier (didn't deserve it to be honest) but weren't sure if we should have been.

As far as I understand,if you win your class, you qualify, and then the highest placed of the other breeds in your class also qualifies. For example, in the highland, fells, and dales;if a fell wins, that qualifies, and so do the highest placed highland and dales in your class.Other than that it is just the same as an open.
