We have three cats. But a Tom keeps coming in, leaving its scent and eating there food. They will not stick up to it, and the tom is very people shy. Whenever we catch it we growl at it, to make it think theres another cat. We thought we'd got rid of it, but we hadn't. We don't want to lock the cat door, as one of our cats is very elderly, and hates been outside. Any ideas what to do?

Are your cats chipped? You can get cat flaps now that work on your cats microchips. My niece has changed hers over to one for the same reason

We had this problem some years ago and cured it by getting a magnetic cat flap, your cat wears a collar with a magnet so the door will only open for your cat.

I had the same problem recently only it peed and sprayed on our sofa which we had to throw away, on a carpet which we had to rip up in the end, and it attacked my very gentle little cat ripping his tongue three times. My vet suggested trapping it in with the cat flap on in only and absolutely drenching it with a bucket of water and a loud noise like saucepan lids dropping next to and then let it out and it may scare it away. It did work a bit, it stopped breaking the cat flap to come in but hung around outside still. I hate to say it but the only way it finally stopped hassling us it was run over on our lane (not by me I hasten to add). It had been attacking lots of other cats round here not just us.
The vet also said to me that if it's causing trouble, and we can catch it he would neuter it for me and then he would send it to a rescue centre - unfortunately I know who owned this cat and it was also microchipped so that was a no - no in my case.
Good luck, they are a complete pain when they're like this.

We have had this recently, up to the point where it chased one of mine over the road and she was killed, he sprayed up the tv etc and bullied all our cats. In the end the CPL trapped him , put a col on him to ask his owners to get in touch with them, when they heard nothing they trapped him again and he was neutered, wormed , flead etc. Poor thing was very thin and had mange, he was freed where we trapped him and I now put feed out for him well away from the house, he has stopped coming in and the bullying has stopped. I see him sometimes but he is no bother anymore so he is wellcome
