We still have over 100 stable requests (and entries) that to date we have not been able to accommodate. We will try to send emails to everyone today to let them know the current situation. We have had a few cancellations over the past few days and have re-allocated - and confirmation will be sent for these people on Monday. There may be 1-2 more over the weekend. If anybody has a stable that they no longer require - please email: bbranyan@eastofengland.org.uk with details and we will give you a full refund. If anybody has sent in entries (with stables) and not had confirmation yet - then you are probably still in the pending pile. If you have been able to source stables elsewhere we will still take your entries - so please contact us as soon as possible. We really do apologise for this - we have taken on 200 more stables than last year - and are staggered by the huge demand. Thank you very much for your patience - we are doing our best to accommodate as many people as possible - but unfortunately there will be some disappointed people.

I am sure there will be a few cancellations popping up. I hope people do the DECENT thing (like the two above) and sell the stables for the same price they paid or return them to equifest so they can reallocate rather than trying to profiteer.

This is absolutely awful. People have gone to qualifying shows, qualified, sent in their entries and stable requests AND BOOKED DAYS OFF WORK. 450 miles is just too much in one day to drive and we now have to explain to the 5 year old rider why they can't go after being so excited. Even worse is the fact that we have all chosen to enter Equifest, qualified for other champs and not been informed we have no stable until after these others have either been or entries have closed. I think a lot of people are going to be a lot more than disappointed!!! Back to NPS Summer or Ponies UK for us next year, we aren't even going to give Equifest a go. THANK GOODNESS FOR BSPS THIS YEAR!!!! Who else feels the same? ?

I can understand your frustration JZ and it is disappointing for your young daughter.
However Equifest is a fab show and the Equifest team are working so hard to accommodate as many people as possible. They have been overwhelmed as "Betsy" put it by the amount of entries this year and I feel it unfair to have a go at them. After all they cant help it if people have decided to choose Equifest instead of other venues. There would be more moans if they put too many stables on site & this caused safety issues.
We put our stable request in very early as we understood there was going to be a lot of enteries, we are just one of many people who are looking forward to a fab show and I would like to thank everyone at Equifest for all there hard work.
Have you tried any of the local private / riding establishments for for stable allocation, although its not the same as being on the show ground it may be an alternative for you. I do know other people have sourced stabling near the show ground.
Have just come across this if its any help Small Yard offering reasonably priced stabling in peterborough close (within 8 miles) to East of England showground For more information please contact us on 01733 242783

As I said on the other thread, Equifest seems to me to be a victim of its own success and it's unfair IMO to blame the organisers if they cannot get more stables. I know we have similar issues with the NPS finals at Blair Atholl Horse Trials, but we have been told that they have the maximum number of temporary stables available as there as so many other equine events on at the same time. I've applied for stables for Blair for the past 5 years and never yet managed to get one allocated......we get offered stables at Perth Race Course which is about 35 miles away as an alternative so think yourselves lucky if you can access stables more local to Equifest.

I agree with Guestless, they are a victim of their own success AND with the current ecomonic climate people are picking and choosing their shows this year and Equifest seems to be the one that is picked. Speaking to Equifest today it seems this is the case as they have had a record number of duration stables booked with less people wanting day stables or stables for odd nights. If you remember there was a shortage last year so this year was inevitable as it is growing year on year.
I don't think having a go at them is going to solve it, if you read other posts throughout the year about who was going to what show, Equifest seemed to be the popular choice for one reason or another so the writing has been on the wall for a while!
I for one, do not envy the task of working in the Equifest office, the amount of thoroughly rude people they must have had to deal with.

I am just a bit put out then when my entry went in on time it was on the website that there were still stables and for a number of days after, my stabling request was with a freind who has now withdrawn it as she can drive daily, I sent a stable form to this effect.
The payments hadnt gone through so I emailed Betsy who said that the best thing to do was enter a class and then enter more if we could source a stable ourselves. I agreed this was the best plan but a few days later the full entry payment went through. They said there was a possibility of a stable so I left it with them organising if there was one there I would have that but if not a refund.
I emailed quite a few times to find out what was happening then got an email back several days later saying that it isnt policy to refund entries (I do understand this but it was offered and when I sent my first email the entries hadnt been processed and I cant enter without a stable) and they would look at it after equifest.
They have been extremely helpful and polite at all times but I am a bit put out that processing my entry and then not having time to refund what is to me, a lot of money, after I had requested to cancel due to it coming to light there were going to be no stables seems a bit unfair.

i also don't have a stable , I have been going for 3 years ,and have been a member every time.I had no email to warn me of the stable situation. last year i took 2 ponies, the yard took 5 all together, and in a group of over 15 ponies this takes alot of organising and funds to book early hence no stable this year, every one else had backed out its only me still wanting togo due to a new pony ariving only a few months ago, bsps now closed , went to nps for the day to test the water . puk on this week . I know there are stalble near by. but with children its already hard enough getting sorted on site let alone having to travel before and after and move the lorry when you set up camp Exactly!!!! Not "having a go" just stating facts

[Exactly!!!! Not "having a go" just stating facts erm actually I disagree This is absolutely awful. you are 'moaning' the above is not a fact. Equifest is an extremely popular show. we have been from the start and watched it grow and grow. This year it has an awful lot of 'extra' shows also piggy backing it. I think it was therefore very obvious that stabling was going to be tight before anyone even started booking anything. Equifest are VERY fair and let you book stables in advance with no entries and hold them. they offered to then refund if you didn't go. We booked ours in May before qualification but didn't send entries until july when we'd qualified etc. If you really wanted to go and saw it as a summer holiday then I'm afraid you needed to book ahead and not leave it until the last minute when all those panicking are trying to book. Its really really difficult to run a show for 500 competitors. To run one for 2000 with 1400 stabling and all ringing up, emailing and then complaining is a total nightmare. you absolutely cannot please everyone. There will always be some disappointed whatevere you do and no matter how hard you try there will be someone who moans about the colour of the loo paper. Betsy and her team do an amazing job. they have turned this show from nothing into the success it is. If you don't like it then go to puk and nps which are not as in demand this year but don;t complain about a system which is perfectly fair. Qualification does not guarantee you a right to a stable. Betsy cannot possibly know how many qualified ponies will actually want to go. If you really want to go to something then book ahead - you can always sell the stables later. If you cannot afford to do this (my line of thinking was that if you are going you have to pay at some point then it more sense to split the cost rather than forking out £400 all in july) then you must take the risk and send your entries close to the wire and at the busiest time. You then risk being in a huge pile along with everyone else that will not and cannot be processed instantly. they will have to work through them and if they run out of stables halfway through then that's the risk you have taken. You should accept that risk by booking close to the closing date. Put it another way. If there is a Take that concert and you belong to the take that fan club. this does not automatically entitle you to a ticket. It may entitle you to a better ticket but you still have to book with everyone else. if you book late you risk there being no tickets left - same thing. You are still fully entitled to take up your qualification and compete. If you need stabling then you have to source it from somewhere else. there are a lot of places locally which you could do so if you wished.
