I have a kindle, one of my oh's more inspired surprise presents, I love it, and there's a lot you can download for free which is always a bonus. The battery lasts for ages and you can adjust the size of the text to suit youself. Definitely recommend it.

Can I ask? Are they simple to use?(I don't mean for downloading as I can do that)! My MIL reads about 10 books a week She has bad arthritis in her hands so finds it hard to hold a book! I thought about getting her one last xmas but wasn't sure how technical they were? She is 78! She like the old mills & boon and stories of love from war time?

Yes lukey, there is a home button, and up and down arrows to select the book you want from a menu. Then once you start reading, either side has a forward and back button, so you just press the forward button to turn the page as you read. They're on both sides so it doesn't matter which hand you hold it with or how you're sitting. Also good if you like to sit outside as the sunlight doesn't affect the screen, unlike a mobile phone, it's a matt white background with black print and it's clear whatever the weather/light conditions.

If you go on amazon, kindle store, books, then sort by price low - high, all the free books will come up - there's stacks you can get for nothing. Or you can search for an author, or a title.

I got my Kindle last year and now have round 300 books on it. I love it !! I bought the cover that has the fitted light and when I cant sleep I read without disturbing my OH. The battery lasts for ages too.

I was desperate to get a Kindle, then it got a bit technical as they brought out a second version which - I believe - is wifi? I'm not great with this stuff anymore, I quite like simplicity! My phone is very basic which at least stops my kids stealing it.
I believe the 'old' style Kindle's about £40 cheaper. I might start saving.

We bought one for OH for Christmas - he loves it, easy to use and you can have quite big print on it - very clear screen (no backlight) easy on the eyes and can be read in bright sunlight.
