OK - I have a horrible feeling this is a stupid questions but I have looked on the Equifest web site and cannot find a "rules" page...
saw this quote on the chiltern and thames rider web site for their championship show which I have qualified for. The class I am looking at is the M&M in hand small and it says this ...
Classes marked with an asterix are qualifiers for the Equifest Championships to be held at the East of England Showground 16th-19th August 2012. Please refer to the Equifest Rules at the end of this schedule as competitors must be eligible under Equifest rules if they are to qualify for their championships. Competitors will be issued with Equifest Qualification cards if they do not already have them for 2012 finals. Competitors wanting to be judged for Equifest qualification must wear an armband to indicate eligibility when in the class.
The class is for registered ponies and it only refers to the qualification being for "In Hand Mountain & Moorland ponies registered with their respective Pure Bred Societies of Connemara, Dales, Dartmoor, Exmoor, Fell, Highland, New Forest, Shetland, Welsh A, B, C and D. Stallion, mare, colt, filly or gelding, any age."
Seems a bit obvious as the class is only for registered ponies so qualification is just repeating itself??? Do I need to be a member of Equifest to qualify too??

sorry I'm lost, but you don't have to be a member to qualify, as long as you get a little qualification card, you're in X

Sorry! I know - The schedule just said you need to follow the equifest rules which are for registered ponies only but the class is only for registered ponies anyway... thought it was pretty obvious but also thought I was going very blonde!
So long as Equifest doesn't have a membership you have to pay before you try to qualify I will be fine!

Are you confused because the class says Registered?
As far as I am aware, you don't need to be a member to qualify or compete at Equifest. For Equifest classes you need to qualify which you can do locally and get your qualification card signed. If its the registered bit your confused about, this is possibly because people can attend local unaffiliated shows, be placed and receive a ticket but they are specifying that for the Equifest class you need to be registered. I hope this makes sense and helps you

I think I am making a bit of a meal out of nothing here! Sorry. The rules say I have to wear an armband to show eligibility but the class is for registered only ponies (which he is) and the qualification if for only registered ponies so I cannot see the point of wearing an armband! Look, just ignore me. I'll get an armband sorted out anyway but I think the point has been missed by the organisers!

Registered means registered ponies to the correct stud book societies.

I read it as this - if you are entering the class at Chiltern and want to qualify for Equifest then you wear the armband ( so the judge can see which is the highest placed that wishes to qualify ) . I suppose there may be some compaetitors who would not be able to go and therefore would not want to qualify

Yes i agree with Chocaholic,
i.e you may be at a local show in a line up with registered and un registered ponies, the qualification is the first two placings and the pony pulled in second is not a registered pony which means the ticket can then be handed down to the next person wearing an armband wishing to qualify.
I can see why this is a good idea, to ensure that qualifications are passed down and also to the ponies registered within their respective breeds.
