Mine used to be a little s*d for digging holes in the garden, not a good look for a curly blonde dog up to the elbows in soil, but she does seem to have grown out of it, so all I can say is hang in there it does get better!

Well mine is the total opposite! Shes a curly blonde retriever (doest retrieve a thing) who since ive had her 7 years now , within the last 4 months has finnally found her voice box - didnt bark once for 6 1/2 years - and has also found her new talent to be digging holes to then sit in and get brown lol Dogs these days. Who'd ave' em'...

I have the same problem, only it's underwear mine steals! Rule no. 1, never chase after them as they just think it's a jolly game and do it all the more. I have a doggie treat jar, which mine knows the sound of the lid, so when she hears it she knows the biscuits are out. If she has something I want, I show her the biscuit and then walk away. This does her head in. She wants the biccy, but doesn't want to let go of whatever she has got. At this point I keep the biscuit in my hand and go and sit down and wait. It might take a couple of minutes, but as soon as she realises I'm not joining in the game, she will abandon it and come for the biscuit. At which point you can retrieve whatever it is whilst she's still chewing.
Likewise I do the biscuit thing when I need her in the house.

It's taken us years to make our grass into a lawn. This year when it's looking better, our dratted Scottie, the Black Pudding, has taken to digging holes everywhere, what's more she's sneaky with it, turn away for a moment and another excavation appears!
Any one want a muddy, lawn ruining, determined Scottie?

Just console yourself that by this time next year she'll have grown out of it! I think it's just the puppy phase and they all have these endearing little habits but one year on my borders are surviving and the digging seems to have ceased (watch her prove me a liar tomorrow!)
