Has anyone seen the weather forecast for Grantham? I know that the Monday is showery, but anything else. Is it another Battle of Britain week?

It says sunny spells all week (Wednesday -Saturday) apart from rain on thursday. However that is different to when I looked three days ago and so will most likely change again. Funny thing is I doubt the Summer Champs will be as HOT as the winter Champs!!!!!

OOOOOH!!!! This is a VERY important subject as my hubby was adamant he would never go back after last year! However we have persuaded him so please, please let the weather be good and not a mudbath again!!!
Keep this updated anyone living in that area so I know how much gin to pack to keep him sweet should he have to spend the days cooped up again. I say cooped up because we couldnt step out of the wagon without disappearing into liquid gloop which covered the wellies and gently oozed over the tops until you were squelching around walking in the darn stuff! Wellies went into the rubbish bin as we drove (sorry , got towed off).
All pray for good weather and a happy Champs! xx

I've stewarded at the summer champs for the last 6 years. It has never been "hot" weather. Had to wear my fur hat and gloves one year, another at Peterborough the stewards hut blew down. Last year well, I'm trying not to recollect, but hey ho will be taking clothes for all weathers.

I've just looked, typed in the postcode for Arena UK and it has white cloud for tuesday&wednesday with max daytime temps of 17&18,leading up it is either white cloud or sunny spells,I hope that is right! I don't mind light rain at night to keep the ground soft but no heavy rain please! not with 2 ponies with 3 white socks each!

Hubby just watched forecast and seen thunderstorms in that area for Tues. Now insisting I find out about hard standing! Does anyone know if its on a first come , first served basis or is it only allocated to sponsors?

Post by ernie on Aug 21, 2011 9:11:31 GMT
I think that the hard standing is for sponsors - think they are the red and gold areas. However, I am not 100% certain if this is definitely the case. They have done so much work at arena uk I am sure it will be fine xx

Please, please, PLEASE don't let it be as bad as last year!! I can cope with a bit of rain, but all of that mud - not even worth thinking about with a typical grey connie!

Oh dear - I need a regular update - having been out buying 'hats' galore for daughters judging - summery dresses and jackets and I am stewarding and also have sorted out summery stuff I now fear it will be macs and rain hats all week. Not sure that I have smart welly boots either! Light showers I can cope with but prolonged rain - please no! Fingers crossed it stays reasonable, but not liking the sound of the wasps either.

We where @ Clumber Park last night for a concert (not a million miles away) and the wasp's where a pain in the butt, made worse because they where a bit dopey between 5pm and about 8.00ish - then they must have gone to bed :-)
PS the ground was rock hard !! (concert held on the fields where the East Midlands Welsh pony show are held)
Good luck to all completing and hope the weather holds :-)

Wasps.............get a WASPINATOR, available from garden centres. They look ridiculous and like they are not going to work but they resemble a wasp nest. Wasps eyesight not very good and they are a bit dim so they do avoid them. Its like a drawstring bag that you fill with paper/empty carrier bags and hang up in your gazebo, tent, on your lorry door. They fly in see it and fly away again. Worked last year when we were there, worked at Equifest. Also loads of power phaser keeps off the ponies, spray yourself as well!!!!!!
Have fun, we're not going but good luck to those that are X

Last night met office issued severe weather warning for Devon. Torrential rain coming in at 1am and continuing all day. Kept all 4 ponies in last night, reseeded field yesterday afternoon as a good soaking would get the seeds started. Woke up this morning..................bone dry, not 1 drop of rain has fallen from the sky!!!!!!!!
