Just a word to the wise for anyone in the Ryedale area of North Yorkshire. Thefts on farms Malton outskirts in broad daylight this last week, sheds raided and cleaned out of whatever they can get. Reportedly red pickup with 3 men with geordie/teeside accents quite blatantly casing farms in broad daylight. Obviously watching places as one farm the owners were out, no cars in but their elderly mother was home and had to lock herself in and phone police, by the time police came they were long gone and sheds emptied. Poor old girl was terrified. Only half a mile from me so we are on alert.
Anyone know anyone in this area please advise them. Thanks.

Hi Garrett
That's terrible!!
Mind you it's the same round here.... if it's not nailed down they will have it. Think it pays to have a dog that barks!

Last winter the similar occurences (mostly attempted or suspected recconaisance) happened up here on various farms right the Scottish Borders - some at lambing time, when farmers were tired and concentrating elsewhere. ID and accent absolutely fits the same sort of description.
We here had a brush with one such team (three, one older, two younger - south Geordie/Tyneside accents), posing as 'scrappies'. But, across on the west, the tale when they were disturbed, was that they were trying to sell alloy gates (but had none on their truck to offer.....!)
Hopefully they will run out of derv in the attempt to find new territory. Sods.

These guys were at it again last week, this time they got a quad and a discovery from one farm,Police caught up with them and chased them to the A1 and gave up apparently. Following night went to another farm next to a pub near Pickering and tried to steal 2 tractors and emptied a shed of tools. Got a shock though as the two tractors were chained together plus the guy that owned them turned up and whacked one of them but they got away ;D They seem to hit around 8/9pm and watch places during the day. Seem to be driving either a red/burgunday coloured transit pick up with a grey door although might have had a paint job by now

So they were at it again yesterday, around the Helmsley area. This time stole a quad right in front of the owners (one of my friends). It was found 4 hours later after the local farmers gave chase, don't think the thieves bargained on that. Middle of the day again.
Still red pick-up, 3 men, teeside accents. Also backed up with Grey pickup 09 reg and a 52 reg freelander. Casing during day, sometimes back 8/9pm ish on a night.
