I am looking to buy a bunch of Heavy Weight rugs to fit a 5'9 does anyone know of anyone who does them for lower prices as some of them seem so over priced (However could take that much to make them)

I dont think I have one new rug in my tackroom - and we have about 50 of them in varying sizes from 3'3" up to 7'. I tend to go round saddlers and the auction sales and look for the ones which need a good wash - and reproof if outdoor rugs, and bid on those as most folk dont want the hassle, but I've bought quality rugs - Mark Todd, Rambo, Horseware, Bucas and Weatherbeeta to name a few from as little as £5 and up to £20 (and they have to be pristine for me to part with that amount of money). I power-hose anything over 6ft and the others go in the washer, and then I reproof them with fabsil, I get it from the camping shop for £10 a can and it does 2 5'9" rugs - saves a fortune. If you want NEW cheapish rugs, I cant help you there, its not my bag I'm afraid.

open a trade account with snowhill saddlery. If you buy 5-10 a time i think it works out about £20 per a rug for combos

Just a tip....don't go too cheap, unless you want them to last one winter.....or even less!! If you buy a really cheap rug, esp one with the shoulder vent, it will prob fall apart pretty quickly, my main job is rug repairing, so I have seen plenty If you get some in the derby house sale you would get reasonable quality at a sensible price, I just bought a 6ft combo for £25 and delivery was free! Other place I get them is premier equine in their sale list, discontinued lines etc. Also worth haggling at tack shops....I wanted a decent LW combo for horse I was selling, asked them what best they could offer me was, and she offered me a horrid cheap one, I said no, so she offered me a £79.99 one for £50, also found in past if you say I want 3/4 will you give me a discount?....they usually do

I would try Hertford Horse Bits - but give them a call rather than go onto the website and ask to speak to Rachel - tell her how many you want and I bet she will do you a good deal.

I am looking to buy a bunch of Heavy Weight rugs to fit a 5'9 does anyone know of anyone who does them for lower prices as some of them seem so over priced (However could take that much to make them) TOP TIP: I use old duvets under a cheaper waterproof outer rug in the stable! In fact duvets are cheaper to buy than heavy duty stable rugs!!
