I hope they hold it outdoors, indoors favours the very collected, small moving ponies as they look neater in the small space.
The free moving ponies that really eat up the ground dont get to show off their paces as well and do not look as impressive

Can someone tell me how big the indoor arena is?
It's a 4hr drive for us and we wont bother if we're in a postage stamp ring and some fell that bounces on the spot gets the ticket because it can fit 10 paces along a short side.

Osbaldeston is a large indoor arena with a good surface. I used to jump some really decent BSJA tracks there and managed fine. A large size dressage arena (60mx20m) fits in very easily with room to spare all round. The workers were indoors last Sunday and they all managed over an up to height track (bit tight for the int's I daresay as some jumps were accross the short side), so I am sure the flat classes will manage.
At least the show is going ahead!!! The ground is not only very wet, but has very long grass on it as Mr. Bargh has not been able to cut this due to prolonged bad weather.

Ok so lets say the arena is 60 x 40 - that is still absolutely tiny for the go round with 25 welsh cobs or highlands! They'll have to split the classes for the go round thats for sure.
At least it's on as you say

Think it is more like 70 x 40. Would you rather they cancelled altogether? Look at this positively - if your pony is well schooled, balanced and mannerly you should have an advantage indoors!!! Hey, at least you wont have to jump a large course - then do a "go round", individual show etc like the workers!!! If you are fortunate enough to qualify for HoYs the arena there is rather tight!

Did you not read the last bit of my post? I said "At least it's on" so yes of course that's better than being cancelled. The standard is so high these days that the majority of ponies i'm pleased to say know how to go round their corners properly in a balanced fashion when in tight spaces. My issue is that those ponies with less than impressive paces often fair better indoors than those with big, free movement. - those that are "overschooled" and go in a collected fashion like a dressage pony lcan often ook the best when they wouldn't outside in a big ring. HOYS is small as you say, but having ridden there myself, the occassion seems to make all ponies rise and show themselves off to their best

I think you'll find the indoor school is plenty big enough. Have a look at their website for pictures of the facilities. www.osbaldestonrc.co.uk

l Totally agree - at least they've been able to put on some sort of show where many have just been cancelled. I'm gutted I can't do my in hand classes but we can't control the weather and at least they've don't everything they can. I look forward to next year and hopefully better weather! Last years show was great. I will join you Bonkers --- here's to Molly, Norman and the Hollins's.
