I feel for all of you, and the people in the floods, i have managed to relocate my show, and i am very grateful to our new venue, but its such a nightmare im convinced i have told all i can and done all i can so fingers crossed now, how many rings were planning on being run, can you not get an indoor venue

One problem that I would have to face as an exhibitor - who has qualified for 4 finals is that this is my holiday - and having it later in the year might mean I was unable to take time from work - so would have to miss one of the biggest finals we've ever done!!

I am supposed to be going to malvern but looking at the pictures on here i dont think i will bother ! We went to three counties in june and the ground was a disgrace then so god knows what it will be like now ! Regardless of anything else think i will just stay at home and thank my lucky stars i still have one ! dont want to risk the ponies myself or my children trying to get over very flooded roads for a rossette. Roll on next year i hope its a lot drier !

I have just heard from the NPS office that the Showground is still OK and that roads around that area are slowly being reopened. The NPS will make a final decision on Thursday after consultations with the relevant authorities, and the Police, so keep your fingers crossed! Please do not speculate any further and please do not ring the Office as they cannot tell you anything else. Rest assured, the NPS is doing everything possible to keep to the original plan.

Well said bigger picture,we have decided not to go to the Royal Welsh for the same reason. There are more important things in life than shows and qualifiers.

I agree demelza Not going to risk ponies slipping even with studs, all very well, pointing out ground will dry up, but it will take several days a hot weather to make any real difference to the ground and that is not going to happen this week. the surface may dry out but it won't take much to cut it up, and that does not only apply to Malvern

Smart answer Big Dave but what it happens if it rains whilst we are there? the ground is saturated and the Shetland Performnce Show was unable to use the rings. Everyone could get stuck. The NPS will then be seen as irresponsible and the show could turn into a welfare nightmare if the fooder man can't re-stock. Towerlands sounds a VERY good idea but Kent County has better access and would let us all enjoy some sunshine. The Pavillion there would make up for the marquees

If the ground is good in Scotland then no problem we'd all travel. The ground is excellent at Kent - Firm to good, it is on chalk so it drains well and the motorway system there gives good access. The South East has the largest NPS membership. it woudl make a change from going west and we could all top up our ???tans and head for the beach in the evenings The beer is made there, the hay is cheaper and a change is better than missing the show. But if they leave decisions until Thursday they'll not have time to shift things.

I have decided not to go, if it is at Malvern, short of a very hot heatwave it will be awful, or it will be too far away for a mere mortal, with a trailer travel to, willbe interesting to see what NPS have to say about refunds.......not everyone will be able to travel to a different venue!

Why don't we just wait and see what the NPS decide to do. All this speculation is exactly that speculation. What ever they decide is not going to suit everone ie change of date or location or even cancallation. Relocating a show this large is just about impossible. It is not just competitors and judges and stewards but things like stabling, on site hay feed etc, toilets, car parking people, public address systems, radios, electricians the list goes on.
Lets just give them some space to make their minds up. Keeping fingers crossed might help as well.

What about moving in on Hickstead straight after the RIHS. They have an enormous all weather arena, permanent stables, lots of rings, worker course. Stands would probably stay and earn extra cash. security people are the same, good going down here, no rain as such for a while. Easy motorway access, easy peesy.

after having 5days of traffic and alot of competitors i dont think hickstead would cope, there are wet as well, the workers course is abit challenging for those on novice ponies.

If the ground is good in Scotland then no problem we'd all travel. Well actually - it is pretty good up here. We're not having a brilliant summer, but it's been much better than down south. (Not that I am getting at anyone who lives down there, it must be awful)

Why don't we just wait and see what the NPS decide on Thursday - when you look at what all those people are going through in Malvern it does make a horse show - all be it a championship show seem so unimportant.

There is nothing immediately obvious on the NPS website about the Champs/any meeting to decide/ possible alternatives I think some short bulletin would help

immediate - take a look at posts from David Bright above. He states that the NPS are due to make an announcement on Thursday.
This is from an email I received today from the B&B where we are meant to be staying: "We are fine where we are, not affected by the floods, things up here have improved generally, and we are accessible. Motorways etc ok., and the Showground is only 5 mins away and easily accessible from here. Although our local town of Upton is totally cut off, (the clean up job is going to be horrendous), but we are still able to get to Malvern which is also nearby. "
So that sounds good at least !
Next decision is even if show goes ahead - do we risk going up there and finding wet ground, more rain, and potential problems getting home again ...... aaargh !
Ah well, we will see what this week's weather brings and the NPS decision and take it from there.
Lexy.

The TV reporter is saying the waters are expected to rise again in the area by tomo. I do know they released water from the Dams in Mid Wales close to my parents over the weekend due to the level of water in them and the water runs into the Severn and normally takes 2 days to reach the Worcs area.

The ground at Malvern has a very long grass cover they have done alot of work on it, brown car park is nearly all hard standing, the ground is now unpoached so why do you lot keep wingeing on causing unnecessary rumors.

I do think the council should make plans now and keep every one in the loop via the web site at leased, there is no way we can go to malvern this is getting rediculous.
What about this super new centre in liverpool somewhere or towlands or scotland .that i read about in h & h a few weeks ago.
I do think they should make a decision now so that it will give them enough time to sort and ask for help sort it, i am prepared to help in any way i can ie phone competiors now to tell them of the new arrangement.
thursday is to late !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i would like to know what i am doing next week.
