"I will be" - are you professional or amateur ?
If amatuer (and therefore assume you are not being paid to go to NPS) then surely does not make any difference if you have already paid money ? And costs extra for fuel to get there on top which you dont pay if you dont go.
I am surprised that NPS have not at least given people the option to say before the show starts if they are not going and provided at least partial refund (minus admin costs). I am sure there must be enough people still going to cover costs ??

More than likely not now, the loss of the stabling and entry money is not important, as well as making a moral stand, we have small riding ponies, our foal at 8 weeks old is tiny and has slender little legs and feet so small we have to cover the yard drain when he is walked across the yard. As we are in Friday, and the rings will have had heavy use before our classes it would be folly for us to attempt to show. The moral side of it obviously comes from the fact I dont really agree it should be held there at all this year, for the most obvious of reasons. I can stay at home, can the same be said of a lot of the residents of Worcester?

I'm still going!
Pelt me with rotten eggs and tomatoes if you wish, but as the original poster said, we all make our own decisions
The cost of stabling and entry fees IS important to me. To some people it may be just the loose change they find behind the sofa, but I had to save up to pay for it all. The show's on and I am going.

Mr Happy, I agree! That sort of money is not what I find at the bottom of my bag or in my purse.... I have saved for it and it IS important to me tooo! It's way too much to waste! I'm taking a hardy M+M and the show would not hold it if there was real danger and risk!!! See you there, best of luck

I am sorting everything out as if I am going but am carefully monitoring the situation. I have spent out a lot in entries and stabling but it will also cost me a lot to go. Monday is D DAy for me.

To 'I will be' - nice to see someone who shares my view, glad I'm not the only one! I too am taking a hardy M&M, he copes with muddy and wet conditions all winter to no ill effect, so I am sure he will be fine at Malvern. As long as he has food, he doesnt really care!
Good luck at the champs!!

Thanks Mr Happy!!! If it's just us two there, I'll see you there!! After all, M+M's aren't meant to be wrapped in cotton wool, maybe this will make people realise that!!!

What rubbish you are talking! So your MM pony will be happy swimming on to the motorway! This is a morale dilemma and the venue should be changed for safety reasons. So what if its further to travel, the weather forcast is not good and the locals could do without the hassle of a load of horse boxes messing things up futher.
Either change the venue or change the date!

Me and my family have struggled so much to pay for this show this year as well, I simply can't let it go!!

As the initial poster said please don't let this thread turn into something nasty, we can all make our own minds up. Also lets not insinuate that those who make the decision not to go do so because its "small change" to them. We all know that there are few people with ponies who have money to burn!!! I would just like to ask that those who make the decision to go plan their journey very carefully, at the moment there is limited access routes to the showground, it is down small roads & if you get lost you will find it difficult to turn around, never mind coping with the fact that you could drive into all sorts of bother! Please check the relevant websites so you know what access is available to you & don't rely on sat nav to get you there. I know i sound like an old mother hen, sorry, but my friends live 5 miles from the showground & having heard what the access in around the area is like at the moment i think it is the very least that any responsible person who is going to the show should do. Off the soap box now

What rubbish you are talking! So your MM pony will be happy swimming on to the motorway! I wasnt planning on taking him swimming on the M5. I have travelled up and down that stretch of motorway four times this week without a hitch, and the weather forecast is even better next week. I will be - I'm coming up from the South West. Looks like it will be you, me and ahighland sharing the chocolate fountain between ourselves! Enthusiast, you have raised some very good points re travel to the show. We will be checking every website and news bulletin we can to plan our route.

As i come from the South East, I go along the M4, and then cut of the m4/m5 corner by getting of the M4 at swindon, going in the A303 i think it is though swindion and virtually takes you to the M5 further up and cuts of at least an hour's driving. I think this misses the worst of the apparent flooded M5.

Have you not seen the pics of the local floods in worcs/glocs, the NF show, the RW mud baths (sorry I mean rings), and the stories of damaged lorries, lorry being tipped over with 4 horses in, flooded stables. etc ?!?!
I agree that everyone has a right to make up their own mind and take the risk - but please at least do be aware of what the risks are and dont blindly think that there must be no risks and going is perfect just because the show is going ahead.
M&M's are more than happy in the field in the mud I agree. But doing a show in those conditions is very different situation and is definitely a risk to both pony and rider. Nevermind the risk to your lorry, and the risk of being stuck for hours on motoroway and/or queueing to get in and out of showground.
I have "lost" entry fees for both RW and NPS Champs. But there are more important things in life to worry about than a bit of money for entries. That is not being flippant and I know people (myself included) spend a lot of their hard earned money on showing.
Good luck to those that brave it and I will keep my fingers crossed for sunny weather for you !
Lexy.

Just a suggestion but, maybe the NPS should look at not making the classes do a go-round to try and preserve the ground for as long as possible?

Hey all well i am still going a little concerned but we are travelling down on tuesday but like others i will be monitoring the weather up until the very last minute. i am taking my darty! ive never been to the NPS before but looking orward to it not the mud and rain though! I dont see why everyone is complaining and saying that we should write a letter at the end of the day we can all make up our minds and if it wasnt safe then im sure the committee wouldnt want it to go ahead anyway. S i wish everyone good luck and pray that it stays dry!

We are definitely going if it is on. Whilst I definitely have every sympathy with those flooded. I live in Oxfordshire and know lots of people who are/have been flooded. I can't see that us cancelling our show will make any significant difference to the people in the Malvern area. It would be like asking people who are holidaying in Oxford not to go as it would offend the people of Oxford. I don't think so. With regard to the going being really dangerous for our ponies - I show Working Hunter Ponies - the clue is in the name.

Cor just look at whats going on here ...good luck to all of you that brave the weather and conditions. You know l went to RWAS this week and whilst the rings got badly churned by the Thursday, the show did go ahead with the persistence of the committee and generally was very successful, given the current weather situation, and all the scaremongering that went off beforehand.
I would suggest if you have made that choice to go, go and have a great time and really enjoy the experience, and don't let those people who are intent on making you feel guilty by making statements like I am not going for ethical reasons ,Oh those poor people of the area. As l have said life goes on just make sure you folks keep yourself safe, and yes l agree with you Mr Happy the M5 is not a swimming pool as partner travels that way regularly and has done so 4 times over the past week.
Good luck to all you folks
Just out of coincidence l was told that l would never be able to get off the hill at Builth Wells showground..My lorry agree wouldn't have done..but l parked sensibly !! Then l had no trouble at all.

We are going too, its a first time for us and we were so looking forward to it, I was secretly hoping it was going to be posponed as we are going in a tent rather than the normal caravan. But the entries are a lot of money to me, We have an M & M who loves the wet going and if it gets bad we will come home as simple as that. The motorways seem clear just spoke to someone who came back from RW and he said you cannot get thro from the M5 over the large roundabout as there is flooding but said it would be easy to drop onto M50 and signposted Malvern,
Maybe NPS ought to post some alternative routes on website a bit nearer the day as it would help us all.
I think people should do as they want without others making them feel guilty

M5 is clear and so is M50 go and enjoy it if you choose to go and if you don't choose to ,don't make others feel that they are being thoughtless to the flood situation.
