Goodness, they do keep The Keystone Cob busy. I wonder if he has now earnt a break? Nah - just gets his name in the results more than the others!!! Seriously though, he had just under three weeks off earlier this month. He was lovely today - really enjoyed himself in the main arena. Living "on" the motorway means that most shows are pretty easy to get to, and having a couple of lorries means that horses don't have to spend entire days at a show and can go home when they are finished.

I've just heard that Georgia Stratten and Blaenau Hafwyn (spelling!) have just won the A's and B's and qualified for HOYS! I'm thrilled to bits for you guys, its great news and very well deserved, couldn't have happened to nicer people! Brilliant news! I am sooo pleased for Jennie and Georgia and of course Megan! ;D ;D ;D

Many thanks to everyone for their concerns after the accident in the lineup today but i am ok, my leg isnt broken but VERY badly bruised, swollen anf purple. My pony is also fine, a reflection of his wonderful nature so alls well that ends well.
Cramped into the ring at Hickstead with only a postage stamp to do shows in some of the classes, an accident waiting to happen and it did... to me.

Lovely jockeys yes but certainly not a good enough show from the winning section a. Terrible terrible judging to allow a massive wrong leg to come up from 4th to win. Laithehill czar was robbed yesterday imo. Please Mrs Fluck and Mr Illsley stick to judging show ponies and leave the M&M classes to the "hairy" judges "!

Guestt perhaps you would like to take it up directly with both of the judges you name instead of slagging them off on here under a pseudonym. You obviously witnessed the class. If you have issues with standards of judging, take it up with the relevant society in writing after your discussion with the relevant judge on the day in question. In the meantime complete your application to become a judge and see how it feels.

surely only the ride judge is at fault as the conformation judge has nothing to do with way of going.

wrong legs have been winning years. you breed of showing people are just joining the long line of unblievable things that go on including lame ponies from producers yards winning. i tried for many years to stamp it out with bsps but i stood up and was counted so many are afraid to in case they never win another thing. THIS HAS TO BE STOPPED. somebody please take notice ,it does not help your societies, only your bank balance.

Hacks- Smalls 1st Daldorn Legacy, 2nd Holtess (Hampton Court?) J Armstrong Small 3rd Henrietta or Golden Gunner (I think- didn't have too good a view) not sure of the rest of the order as they may have swapped places on the lap of honour! Large 1st Opium Casa Leona 2nd Barrdene Night Fever 3rd Lowmoor Highflyer 4th Honey Glider 5th R Ramsay on a bay (sorry!) not sure what came after. Very hot with annoying flies (which were not entered) in the ring as well! Quality classes, well judged and enjoyable to watch

re the wrong leg, from what i understand when the results were read out and the winner came forward, the ride judge realised that possibly there was an error in marks being taken down or adding up but the rosettes had already been presented. I do know that another competitor in the class did voice a complaint to the stewards and judges at the time but the class was already over. Lovely result for an unsuspecting and surprised family, you cant blame them for being over the moon - it wasnt their mistake

Totally echo blacknight - I think there was a lot of checking of marks but that is down to the judges and should not take away the success for the family concerned. I do feel the 'disgruntled' parties however could have waited until all classes had been completed.

if the ride judge had been watching the competitors all the way through their shows she may have noticed who had made errors and who hadn't!!! the marking was appaling in all the classes so i'm pleased it went in the favour of a lovely family who try so hard!

Watching from the side of the ring you could follow what they wre looking for and they looked to be sharing their opinions. In the south we get fed up of the same rounds of judges and the same sets of results so THANK YOU Hickstead for relieving us of this situation. It was great to see new ponieds qualifying and watching their connections experience the joy of the moment. Thank you Mr Illsley & Mrs Fluck. Long may you continue to judge our native breeds.

I quite agree about the showing judges, we had a shocking two days, naughty ponies!!! riding horse (who should know better!) and hack who didn't understand judges aids to canter!!! BUT all three where totally unbiased and FAIR in their judging , and judged what they saw, not who was on top. Congratulations to Roger Stack for choosing them. ps had two lovely days ,in the sun, although useless results!!!!
